Fourteen Layer Chocolate Cake
You have to UNDERSTAND this cake to appreciate it. This is an old Southern holiday/special occasion recipe. It is obviously labor intensive and made with a big dose of LOVE! These days most folks just buy them from a home baker...these cakes run $40-$50! Follow these directions to the letter and you will have a taste of Christmas in the rural south!

Favorite Cabbage Salad
I really liked this slaw...it's very "refreshing" not heavy at all. I didn't add bacon because I didn't take the time to cook it. But, it was fine without it. It's probably best very thinly shredded to keep the dressing distributed. Tasted great with barbequed chicken and twice baked potatoes.

Tomato Pie II
This recipe was DELICIOUS!!!! Left out garlic powder and basil (personal preference), added thinly sliced onions. Happened to have some crisp bacon and threw a little of that in. The taste is incredible! I have to confess it was "juicy", perhaps I didn't let the tomatoes drain enough, but they were fresh from the garden and you know how juicy those are. I just tilted to drain so tomorrow's leftover pie will be a little drier.
