About this Cook
I am ex-career woman turned professional household administrator. I enjoy learning new cooking techniques and preparing recipes that my family enjoys as much as restaurant food.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking sweet treats, especially most things chocolate. I am working on expanding my horizons on Chinese and Mexican cuisine. I love to grill outdoors, especially a good steak.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am full-blooded Italian and I enjoy making homemade pasta noodles with my mother. She is so fast and has just the right touch with the dough. I enjoy trying to master her techniques.
My cooking triumphs
I love to learn. My husband has given me culinary classes and books as gifts. One of my favorites was the science behind baking. Where I was able to experiment with the ingredients to customize a chocolate chip cookie exactly to my liking.
My cooking tragedies
When I was younger every meal I prepared was an adventure. I remember the pan of brownies where the entire pan came out as one piece and wouldn't break even when we threw it up against a brick wall. Then there was the gravy that exploded in the blender all over the kitchen. Yikes!

Kris' Amazing Shredded Mexican Beef
Great flavor to this recipe. I used 4 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and froze the rest of the can 3 peppers/bag for future use in this recipe. 4 peppers were a bit spicy for our taste. I took them out before I shredded the beef and stained the broth and put some of the broth back in with the shredded beef with a little water to lessen the spice. Served with lime/cilantro brown rice, black beans, corn, and sauteed onions on wheat tortillas.

No-Knead Artisan Style Bread
This bread is amazing. It is the famous NY Times No-Knead Bread. I didn't add the herbs. Worth the wait.

Original NESTLE(R) TOLL HOUSE(R) Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies
Good cookie. I don't usually make these cookies with butter because they spread too much. But, it was perfect, since I made them in a gingerbread cookie pan. Very rich and chewy. Yummo!
