About this Cook
I work part time as a caregiver for the elderly, a Mad Scientist as apart of an afterschool education program for elementary students, plus I'm in college, majoring in Marine Biology. I'm married, and love cooking and event planning.
My favorite things to cook
Authentic ethnic cuisines, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indian, Tibetan, Mediterranean, other European... and just plain yummy food. Stuff that's difficult and challenges me, I enjoy that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was never much into cooking from scratch, nor was hers. But I have two recipes developed from them - one for fried chicken, and another for chicken stew.
My cooking triumphs
Catering a huge party in creole style (Voodoo and Velvet was the theme). Also... coming to the point when I could make something gourmet out of almost anything we had in the kitchen.
My cooking tragedies
No tragedies... just learning experiences! :)

Irish Lamb Stew
The only change I make is to add beer - cause we like that flavor in lamb stews. We subsituted the wine and water for dark stout. We have occasionally used beef instead of lamb - just be sure to tenderize it. This really is a wonderfully well-done recipe.

Trout Amandine
Lovely! I'm becoming a big fan of trout. SEANZILLA: 'Amandine' is right, it means "garnished with almonds." Almondine isn't a word in the dictionary.
