I married my high school sweet heart 21 years ago and have we 3 great kids. My oldest is currently serving in Iraq. I am an avid reader and love the outdoors. My husband and I are leaders in our church and put Jesus first in our life.
My favorite things to cook
I just love to cook Italian and mexican. Especially if it requires the whole family to be involved. Dinner in our family is a big deal. Sitting down as a family to eat is something we have always done and have instilled the importance of it to our children.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Just being together is our main tradition. My mother-in-laws Chicken Escarole soup is a must at every gathering. Each birthday we pick a different cuisine to try, its fun to learn new cooking tricks and to enjoy different foods.
My cooking triumphs
My husband and I have dreams of opening a restaurant, we will in time. One year 2 good friends of ours got married and had us cater their wedding, wow it was a full 160 person affair from soup to nuts. We knocked their socks off and it was a great success. Nobody but close friends of ours knew it was our first time doing something like this. I was so satisfying knowing that my husband and I had it in us to do it!!
My cooking tragedies
I have had no major tragedies other than cakes sticking to the pan and eventually becoming a trifle I have had the occasional overcooked meat. This thanksgiving I made a cheese cake and didn't take into consideration the height of my oven shelves. I wound up decapitating my cheese cake as I removed it.. Nothing that a can of cherries couldn't hide!!
