About this Cook
I just turned 40 and still love to try new recipes. I am married with two children (been married 21 years). I love to do different kinds of crafts, baking and I love Christmas!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are baked chicken, mashed potatoes and steamed carrots for a comforting, quite Sunday dinner. I also love to bake cookies, cakes and breads. My favorite bread is focaccia- I just love all the rosemary, thyme and olive oil. YUM!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and dad would make homemade spaghetti sauce at least once a month together and they would also make homemade bread and rolls to serve with it. I still remember them spending the day together, enjoying themselves. So once in awhile, I make the same recipe to bring back the memories. I also make my grandmothers sour cream coffee cake on occasion to remind me of her. Funny how food brings you back in time.
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to cook my first turkey was interesting. My mom had passed away and I really wasn't sure how to do it--she and my grandma always took care of the part of dinner. But I got some pointers from my stepmother and mother-in-law and it turned out really great. Gave me alot of confidence to try other things.
My cooking tragedies
Let's just say that I am not good at making gravies! :(

Banana Pumpkin Bread
I agree with previous reviews--this bread just will not bake all the way through. I even cooked it 25 min more than called for and the bottom was still goopy. I also did not care for the taste of the bread--very heavy, dense tasting. I ended up throwing most of it away.

Lentil Barley Soup
Very, very good soup! I didn't have the veggie soup mix so used veggie bouillon cubes. Subbed olive oil for margerine for personal preference and this is a really great soup. Will use this recipe often. Such a good flavor. Thank you!

Cheddar Garlic Biscuits
These were simple, fantastic, and yummy! My son said they tasted just like Red Lobster biscuits! I used a small box of the Jiffy buttermilk biscuit mix which is the perfect amount for recipe. Will be making this recipe for years to come. Thanks a million!
