I changed my family's eating habits several months ago. I cook a lot healthier things for my husband and 2 kids now. I eat mostly organic myself, although my family refuses to go along with it. Our family eats hormone & steriod free meats and milk. I love trying new recipes, mostly because I love to eat!
My favorite things to cook
I love to make stir-frys, meat loafs, anything Italian, salads and desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents never taught me to cook, so I began collecting cookbooks and recipes. From there I started altering recipes and coming up with my own. I did learn that from my dad. He would make his own concoctions which we would rave about. Only problem, he would never write them down and never was able to make it the same way twice. I write it down as I create it.
My cooking triumphs
My family and friends like my spaghetti sauce and salads.
My cooking tragedies
Well, there was the time that I went to stay with my mom for the summer, back in 8th grade. She asked me to make her meat loaf recipe. I had NEVER cooked before but didn't want to admit it. I read only half of the directions and threw it together. There were separate directions for the sauce ingredients...well I kind of added those sauce ingredients with the dry and as you can imagine, the meat loaf never formed and was a disaster. It was so bad that her 15 dogs wouldn't touch it!
