About this Cook
I love to cook. I can do a little mexican, italian, and a lot of american. I do cook gourmet. But my baby is baking. Everyone loves my chocolate chunk cookies and my brownie pizza pie dessert. I would like to learn how to cook american chinese.
My favorite things to cook
Prime Rib with a red wine reduction sauce for Christmas and sometimes Easter. Filet mignon with red wine reduction sauce, Seafood cream sauce over a bed of linguini, roasted chicken. I like to bake scones, pies & biscuits.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Red velvet cake for Christmas & Carrot Cake for Easter.
My cooking triumphs
Baby back ribs, grilled & smoked. My fancy brisket rubbed with olive oil, freshly cracked pepper & fresh rosemary; baked, then smoked.
My cooking tragedies
A couple of times I have forgotten to add sugar to my pumpkin pie. Too much going on during Thanksgiving, I guess.

Caramel Popcorn
Really good. I followed the basic recipe. But I added cinnamon to one portion of the popcorn. I spinkled it on top before putting it in the oven. I also think it would be great if you do the same with some kosher salt, I will try that next time for sweet and salty popcorn.

To Die For Fettuccine Alfredo
This recipe was super easy and good. I melted the butter first and put in two crushed garlic cloves for 10 minutes, removed the garlic, it gave the sauce a mild garlic flavor. (I love garlic.) The sauce is a bit thin. Another member suggested using cornstarch. I didn't because it was my first time trying this recipe, but I will next time. I just let the hot noodles sit in the pasta for 5 minutes so it could soak up the sauce. I tossed again right before serving with spaghetti with meat sauce and chunky garlic bread. For the garlic bread spread, I used 1/2 stick of softened butter, 3 finely minced up garlic and 1/2 t. fresh thyme. I spread that on store bought garlic bread split lengthwise and baked at 350 for about 12 minutes. It was nice eating two different kinds of pastas in one meal. I did the red sauce the day before, it tastes better the next day anyway.

Giant Crisp Chocolate Chip Cookies
Since this was the first time I used this recipe, I followed it as stated, except I didn't have walnuts so I used pecans. I am so happy I found a crisp cookie recipe. They have a wonderful butter flavor. These are perfect if you are a dunker. We dunked them in milk, but I'm sure they would be great with a latte as well.
