About this Cook
Married, two kids, 18 and 20, two dogs, two cats. Happiest when cooking or reading.
My favorite things to cook
I love pasta and Italian favorites, casseroles, crockpot and bread machine recipes. Mexican food is also delicious and I've been doing my share of experimenting. I'm not a big meat eater but my hubby likes it. I could live on appetizers, especially dips. I like to bake cakes, cookies, muffins, pie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm very close to my parents and my only sister and her family. We always eat together on major holidays.
My cooking triumphs
Baked ziti, meatballs, chicken parm, meatloaf, pot roast, mashed potatoes, salsa, artichoke dip, carrot cake, cheesecake, cookies.
My cooking tragedies
I was sauteing fresh green beans one day and accidentally grabbed cinnamon instead of paprika....they weren't that bad surprisingly. I ruined corned beef and cabbage one year. I forgot to put sugar in brownies before.

Bow Tie Pasta with Sausage and Sweet Peppers
I've been making this for quite a few years and just realized I didn't rate/review it. It's simple, but quite yummy.

Strawberry Cheesecake
This cheesecake was excellent. The only thing I did differently was use vanilla wafer crumbs for the crust. I made it for my daughter's birthday and she was so happy with the way it turned out. The whole family couldn't stop talking about it. Thanks so much.

Banana Oatmeal Crumb Cake
I didn't measure the bananas, but I used three medium. I think I would put at least one more banana in, or some banana extract. I think it should have baked 5-10 minutes less, but maybe that's my oven. The topping was a little loose, but most of it stayed on the cake. Could have used a little more cinnamon too. Overall though, it was good and I really like the oatmeal idea. I will make it again with my above-mentioned modifications. Thank you Carol!
