Chocolate Mocha Pie

This was a very good pie and considering how easy it was, I'll definitely make this again.

Marchetti

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2002
My husband thought this was good but I found it to be bland and odd-tasting. I added Accent prior to baking but I felt it was missing something. I'd probably use sharp cheddar next time and perhaps some garlic salt but I doubt I'll make this again.

Thirty Minute Meal

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2002
This dish was good especially considering how quick, easy, healthy, and inexpensive it is. I'm embarrassed to say it but my husband and I finished the whole pot in one night - yikes! But it's so healthy. I did add some garlic while I browned the beef and then drained and rinsed the beef with hot tap water after it was done to get rid of the excess fat. (I do this all the time and you can't tell the difference). I added a few shakes of hot chili powder, and also a few squirts of ketchup for some added flavor and a touch of "sweetness." I did not use what I felt was a whole medium sized head of cabbage. I used about one-half and thought it was plenty. Will definitely make again - probably at least once a week! For those that won't use tomato soup becuse they don't like it. Try it! My husband doesn't like it as soup either but likes it in recipes.

Crabby Cliff's Mushroom Puffs

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2002
I also decreased the cayenne to 1/4 teaspoon and it still had a bite to it. I decreased the amount of mushrooms by a tad and added one can of small, broken shirmp. I added about 1 tablespoon parmesan. I had a difficult time keeping the corners together while baking. Perhaps a little water would have helped. Overall, I found them to be missing something. they were a little bland. Next time I think I'll add some garlic salt, crumbled bacon, and / or grated cheddar cheese; or even substitute the crab for shredded cooked chicken. They definitely have potential.

Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2002
We really liked this recipe, including my 18-month old. I did add the BBQ sauce (about 1/2 cup) and chopped onion, both of which we felt were good additions. It probably would have been a little bland otherwise. No mustard though; just a personal preferance. I will definitely make this again and again.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2002
I also dredged the meat in flour and some seasoning and browned it before adding to the crock pot. This made for a nice, thick sauce in the end. I also added white cooking wine instead of the water and added fresh mushrooms right in the beginning. I thought this tasted more like beef stew (minus the veggies) than beef stroganoff. We thought it was okay but thought it was better after I added the traditional sour cream. Overall, my husband and I like my other recipe much better which is a stovetop method and partially consists of cream of mushroom soup, sliced sirloin, sour cream, etc. I hope to post it within the next couple of days for anyone intersted.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2002
My husband and I felt this was a good recipe. I also added 1/2 pack of taco seasoning but next time I will use a whole pack because I felt it needed more flavor. I also added about 1 cup of white rice leftover from chinese takeout. We thought this was a good addition. I used corn tortillas instead of white which I think gives it a more authentic flavor. Used a 14.5 oz can of tomatoes instead of 10 oz. I used 1 can of refired beans and 1 can of black beans, drained. Added more cheese too. Will make this again.

Italian Meatball Sandwich Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2001
It thought this recipe was only okay. The cream cheese mixture, something I thought I would love, was too overwhelming, plus I cut the may from 1/2 cup to 1/3 cup. My husband only liked the meatballs. My brother-in-law thought it was good, but he also orders mayo on his meatball subs. I won't be making this again.

Angel Hair Pasta with Shrimp and Basil

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2001
I increased the garlic amount and sauteed fresh mushroom slices and quartered zuccini slices with the garlic. Otherwise I think it would have been quite bland. However, I did use dried basil and parsley. I used only one 28-oz. can of plain diced tomatoes as two would have been too much. I also combined about 1 tbsp. flour mixed with about 1/3 cup cold water and stirred it into the tomatoes and wine mixture as it boiled to thicken it. But my husband, brother-in-law, and I thought it turned out very good. Parmesan is a must. Will definitely make again.
