Stick with your tried and true but don't be afraid to try new things. Yes it takes practice. Nothing tried -nothing gained! Watch, Listen and ask,its a compliment to the cook! Good wishes for tasty dishes!Save those old family recipes before there lost to time.
My favorite things to cook
Soups and Sunday sauce with meatballs etc. Chicken anywhich way, haha. Arrozcon Gandules.Desserts and trying the wonderful recipes on Allrecipes.com. An ongoing oddysey :o) Many Thanks to all who share.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being a native NYer we do LOTS of Italian American cooking along with Irish heritage foods,Spanish,Polish,Greek, Tex/mex inspired, Southern style and Chinese cooking.Hubbys BBQ! Heck if it looksand tastes good we'll try it! Its a lucky part of growing up here. It's a very diverse food culture.
My cooking triumphs
Having a hubby who is easy to please, raised by super talented Mom in the kitchen! wheew!Learning my mom inlaws "recipes" for Italian, Polish, other foods. A good thing, my hubby is happy!Still not mastered her excellent baking. I'm trying to collect family heirloom recipes before they are lost to time.
My cooking tragedies
I used a new pot for my Sunday sauce and we invited a family friend who is a master cook to stay for dinner after helping us move. The sauce burned and was very bitter. The pot was too thin bottomed!! Thankfully he had to get home early and my delicious sauce legacy stayed within the family. Needless to say the pot went out with the burned sauce. Thankfully the only time I ruined Sunday sauce for my poor husband. Eat bread and meatballs all is never lost.I Do not grill thats hubbys domain :O) !!!
