About this Cook
I'm getting married this year, and I'm really trying to step up my cooking game. My fiance really enjoys my cooking, but I'm always looking to try something new. The same old dinner gets pretty boring after awhile!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, way more than I like cooking. Consequently, we always have a great dessert, even if dinner didn't turn out so well. I'm always trying something new, as to broaden our horizons. Then again, you can never have too much comfort food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My fiance and I like to cook on the grill a lot. In the middle on winter, he'll be out there in a parka, grilling chicken. We think it adds a little summer flavor to the cold, dark winters. The rest of our family thinks it's weird, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
My cooking triumphs
When I first met my fiance he didn't eat anything - no hamburgers, no pork, no fish, no mayonnaise, no mushrooms, no green beans, etc. All he liked was chicken. After a couple of months of just chicken, I had had enough. I started cooking normal meals, and if he didn't like it, too bad. He has come around, and now enjoys all the foods that everybody else does. It has made my life so much easier - and tastier!
My cooking tragedies
I cooked Thanksgiving dinner this year for the first time. Everything was going great, my timeline was working as planned. Then, the turkey didn't seem to be cooking fast enough. I kept checking the temperature and it didn't seem to be getting any warmer. I thought the oven seemed a little less than hot, but my fiance said it was 375 degrees (that's what the knob said). Well, my mom came to check on it and said "You oven isn't on." For whatever reason my oven shut-off in the middle of cooking the turkey. It took about an extra hour and a half to cook, but it all turned out ok in the end. Next year, I'll be sure the oven is actually on!!

Best Lemonade Ever
Great, simple recipe! Not too sweet and delicious. Tastes like summer in a glass!

Italian Meatballs
These were great. I only cooked them for about 45 minutes, and simmered them in the sauce for about 30 minutes. My husband really enjoyed them.

Red Skinned Potato Salad
I made it three times over the weekend for various picnics. Each time I went home with a clean bowl. Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe.
