Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

A little sweet for my taste... I considered using tomato sauce instead of katsup but decided to make it as written. Next time would definitely use the sauce. Good except for the excessive sweetness!

Slow Cooker Adobo Chicken

This is really good, even my preschoolers like it. I make it with boneless, skinless breast though... I've never liked the skin and bones in a traditional adobo!

Amish Breakfast Casserole

I have made this a couple of times for a staff meeting and everyone loves it, there usually are no leftovers! I make it with sausage instead of bacon, and mexican blend shredded cheese instead of putting in swiss.

Quick and Easy Brownies

Maybe I'm wierd but I think boxed brownie mix is the best... this is the closest I've come to that taste in a home made brownie. I didn't have cocoa powder so I used chocolate squares instead and it turned out fine!

After-Christmas Turkey Potpie

This recipe is good - I didn't have the golden mushroom soup so I used cream of celery instead (it's all I had) and it was pretty good but I think it would have been MUCH better with the golden mushroom soup. It didn't make a very saucy filling though - I think I would have liked just a little more sauce but if you are looking for comfort food this is definitely it!

Runzas (Bierocks)

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
We are another family who have been making these for years. We add onions, carrots and celery to the beef mixture and I've never put any cheese... we use the Rhoades dough all the time and bread machine dough works well too. We eat them dipped in katsup or mustard. YUMMEE. They always get eaten up in a hurry!

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
This recipe is great. I used only two boneless, skinless breasts and I had only one can of soup on hand. Also my family likes noodles so I substituted those for the potatoes. It was delicious.... too bad this particular dish (regardless of recipe) doesn't keep well.. better if you can eat fresh and hot... my husband gets home from work late and the noodles always suck up a lot of the juice.. might not do it so badly with potatoes. I will definitely make this again.

Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
This is waaaay too sweet. My husband, who is a major sweetie, wouldn't even eat it. I followed the rec from a couple others who said it needed more dough. Didn't help. The berry mixture was so disgustingly sweet and the bread didn't have too interesting of a texture/flavor. Definitely do NOT recommend this recipe.

Good brownie - a little cakier than I'd like, but I only seem to find the dense, fudgy ones out of a box!

Slow Cooker Beef Barley Soup

This soup is really very good - somewhat different from what I had been expecting but adding the spice at the end of the cooking really finishes this dish off nicely. Very satisfying meal with bread on the side.

Chocolate Macadamia Nut and White Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2000
This recipe was very good - it got rave reviews from those I served it to. It makes a cake-like cookie. The dough mixed up fairly stiff - so much so that I added about a cup and a half of milk to it (double batch) to get to a good consistency for dropping on the cookie sheet. Probably could have used a little less milk and had a slightly firmer cookie, but they were good anyway.
