There are so many other excellent chocolate chip recipes that I have made.... I would skip this one, nothing special.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
Delicious! I gave this 5 stars with the following modifications: Used 1/2 cup of white sugar and used flour & corn starch equally measured in the 1/3 cup. You need to use whole milk -- anything less than that will make it runny and it won't set right. Make sure the bananas are very ripe for the full banana flavor. Cook the filling so that it turns out like custard. I cut up the bananas and put them in the custard. I baked the pie as directed and it turned out the perfect consistency! Also was very happy with the "Easy Pie Crust" recipe from this site & got many compliments on this crust! I used the "Whipped Cream" recipe from this site & it was very good on top of the pie.

Easy Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
I'm giving this 5 stars with the following modifications: for a dessert pie, you need to use way less salt (1/4 tsp.) and 1 T. sugar. It was flaky and absolutely delicious. I got many compliments on this pie crust (I made "Banana Cream Pie I" from this site)

Whipped Cream

I'm giving this five stars with following modification: 3 T powdered sugar instead of 1 T. This was an excellent topping for the "Banana Cream Pie I" that I made on this site.

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
This is the only tuna noodle casserole that I will be making from now on! It was FULL of flavor and there were no leftovers! I read other reviews and made the following modifications: I sprayed olive oil in the baking pan instead of butter. Sauteed the onions, celery, garlic, and then mushrooms in olive oil instead of butter. Use more garlic for awesome flavor (5 cloves), and I added a small amount of Adobo seasoning to the mixture. For the roux, instead I used whole wheat flour and added a few shakes of Adobo seasoning (found in the Mexican food aisle). This is a great seasoning. Also add a few shakes of Thyme seasoning (this is awesome in the casserole). Then when the casserole is done, I sprinkled "Trader Joe's Fried Onion Pieces" on the casserole. It is delicious this way and total comfort food. Served with sauteed green beans.

Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
Loved this! I added 2 large minced garlic cloves as well as the powdered garlic. Additionally, I used sweet Italian turkey sausage instead of the beef. It's awesome; however, I would bake it the day before you serve it, since the sauce is runny straight from the oven. To me, lasagna is always better the next day -- the flavors meld & the sauce thickens. YUM!

Easy Swedish Apple Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Delicious! I softened the butter instead of melting it. I added 1 T. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, 1 tsp. vanilla, and 1 T. brown sugar & 1 T. white sugar to the sliced apples. Also added cinnamon to the topping. It was very good & I think you could reduce the sugar in the topping -- it's pretty sweet.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This was sooooo YUMMY!!! My family loves sweet potatoes and this was by far the best yet. This one will replace the one I've been making for years (which was also very good). Don't substitute with yams, it's not the same. I tried that one year and the flavor wasn't as good. I added 2 T. of vanilla and that does make it better!

Holiday Cranberry Chutney

I've made others that are better. The flavor of the cinnamon and cloves were very overpowering. If you reduce the amount of spices, then I think it would be quite good.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This only gets 3 stars because it wasn't a genuine pineapple upside down cake. There was also way too much batter for a cast iron skillet. I had to throw out the extra batter because if I would have used all of it, the batter would have overflowed in the oven. I don't have a 9x13 cast iron skillet, which is what you would need for this recipe or a 9x13 Pyrex dish. It was way too cake-like and not how pineapple upside down cake should be.

Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
Very good! I did a few things different. I didn't add the nuts to cake batter. I added the nuts to the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. I poured half the batter in the bundt pan & then sprinkled half of the the nuts/brown sugar/cinnamon mixture evenly. Then poured the remaining batter over that. At the end, I added the other half of the nuts/brown sugar/cinnamon. It came out very moist & flavorful.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Delicious! This makes 12 very large scones, so next time I will shape them smaller and it will make more. I added 1/2 tsp. vanilla to recipe. I may try low-fat sour cream next time. I also served them with the Microwaveable lemon curd recipe from this site -- divine!

Pan Seared Red Snapper

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
This is definitely a gourmet fine dining experience that takes very little time to make! The flavor is wonderful and the snapper turns out very moist. My husband and I LOVED this and will save in our favorite recipe file. I reduced the ginger by half because I didn't want it to be too strong, and I thought it turned out perfect. A must try - you won't be sorry.

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
Wasn't impressed with this - too spicey and the flavor wasn't great to me. If I were to make it again, I would not use Hot Italian Turkey Sausage and red pepper flakes, it was way overpowering with the hot/spicey, and I would need do some changing with the flavor of it.

Kathy's Roast and Vegetables

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2007
5 stars with the following modifications: I added the veggies half way through the cooking & they were perfect (if you cook the entire time, they will be overcooked). I added about 12 whole button mushrooms, a small onion quartered, and a couple cloves of minced garlic. Also only used one can of cream of mush soup, 1/2 cup red wine, and 1/4 cup water. The flavor was awesome. Salt to taste when done.
