I have been cooking since I was 2. My Mom gave me a spoon to help her make Whoppie Pies and I have been in love with cooking ever since! I love trying new recipes out. I admit...I am a recipe junkie ;) If I made a different recipe every meal, every day, for the rest of my life...I would still have recipes left over to try. I collect them like other people collect ...stamps.
My favorite things to cook
I do not really have a favorite. I love cooking new things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I would have to say that my favorite tradition is during Christmas. My Mother, Sister, and I get together every year to make our traditional candiesto hand out. Chocolate covered Potato candies, Church Windows, different flavored chocolate covered creams,Baklava, and chocolate covered cherries.
My cooking triumphs
A few years ago I worked as a Speed route attendent for the local school bus company. It was nearing the Christmas break, and I wanted to make some cookies for all the drivers and attendents. I had a surplus of Oatmeal, so...Oatmeal cookies. Well,I made them, with a mistake I found out about later. I did not use vanilla extract....but unknowingly used another instead. They turned out great. Everyone loved them and asked me if I would be interested in selling them some. ;)
My cooking tragedies
Fudge. I was tired one day, and craving chocolate to beat the band. I either overcooked, or undercooked it because it just did not set at all. It was a gooey mess. I said what the heck, and instead of throwing it out, froze it, then used it for a hot fudge topping when I had ice cream later on.
