Chicken Chimi in the Oven

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2012
Very good recipe and very simple for a weeknight. If you like to let your meat mixture sit a few hours before making your wraps then go for it but I thought it was good the way it was. We have chili powder that is not spicy, so we had no issues with heat other then what was in the medium salsa.

very good and very kid friendly curry.I added some cumin and garlic to taste and definitely caramelize your onions to bring out some flavour. Will do again for sure.

Tomato Barley Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
I give this soup a 4 only because without seasonings (sea salt, parsley and a tad of basil) it was kinna bland. We also blended our soup since it was easier for little kids to eat and we love the smooth texture. Thumbs up from the kids

Very good recipe but I used my own homemade sloppy joe seasoning mix and added some celery as well.

Chicken Pesto a la Lisa

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2011
Very good recipe. When it was time to eat, I did mix all the sauce in with my pasta and served with a vegetable salad on the side. Plus, I added half the feta cheese into the sauce near the end to melt it a little and then sprinkled the other half when serving the dish.N.B: Some Fetas are saltier then others so if you want this recipe less salty use less feta or buy a feta that has low sodium in the brine.

Southwest Chicken Pie

really good recipe especially if you doctor it with the season you like. The ones she mentioned are fine but when you add some chili powder and a touch of cajun seasoning then you have a great combo. But i did use my own savory pie crust recipe and not store bought crusts.

Owen's Peachy Pig Out

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
I give this a 4 star only because i modfied the cooking method only. Microwave cooking is not our thing so i browned the pork tenderloin on the stove then removed the pork and sauteed the sliced onions. While that was sauteing,I made the sauce in the sauce pan. Then returned the meat in the casserole dish where the onions had finished caramelizing. I poured the sauce (I had a cup of peach syrup to use up and we love our gravies so why not make more) on top of the meat and covered it and baked it for 40 minutes at 350F. Served it with stove top fried diced potatoes and the canned peaches uncooked.

Dannon Sunshine Smoothie

Reviewed: May 8, 2011
This was good but not that sweet. It was fine for us but next time I might add a bit more mango cause it was definatly not as orangy as the picture and maybe a bit of honey for sweetness. Also the recipe as it is now, makes more then 2 servings unless you serve really huge glasses. We had a full 48oz blender jug when everything was combined and that was plenty for 4 (with extra servings left)

Herbed Chicken, Vegetable and Rice Skillet

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
This is pretty good. I used 3/4 cup basmati rice instead of instant and same amount of water as the recipe. I fried up the rice to give it a slight golden color then I added the water and cooked for 5 minutes uncovered before adding the veggies and chicken.I cooked it covered and on low heat for 15 minutes to get the rice cooked through .

Macaroni and Peppers in White Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
This is a nice recipe where you can play with the type of cheese you have in the house. I used feta , herbed creamy goat cheese and a bit of old cheddar and it was pretty tasty. Plus I added some chicken breast and garlic to the dish.Kids loved it.

Hearty Vegan Slow-Cooker Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
This is not your traditional chili but it is a good chili nonetheless . I did not have zucchini and squash so i replaced those with diced carrots and celery.Worked out nice and replaced the tomato sauce with vegetable cocktail like one reviewer did and it was also good.

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
This cake turned out super moist and fluffy (I made 2 of them). They were not dense at all. I find creaming the butter and sugar first easier them just throwing the first 5 ingredients together but other then that, the cake tastes great. The trick is to not over mix the batter.

The filling is yummy but I must say I did not use the recipe's pie crust because I love emeril's savory pie crust recipe. And in doing so, the pie just had that WOW factor in my mouth.

Chewy Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2010
Ok I have no clue why some people say they are too oily and that they leave oil residue on your hands because I did a half batch in an 11 by 7 inch brownie pan and they turned out crunchie on the outside and moist on the inside. Not even a speck of oil was left on my hand when I ate them. Only different thing I did was do half brown sugar and half white suger and add choco chips instead of nuts.

Sausages in Onion Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
Not a bad recipe for a quick weeknight supper or even a super busy weekend night. I used honey garlic sausages and it actually worked well with the added 2 red peppers in this recipe. Also i reversed the steps by mistake but that wasn't a major disaster. I actually boiled my sausages and then fried them and put aside. Then made the gravy with the pan dripping and put that aside.Fried up the onion and peppers and then added the sausages and sauce and just warmed everything up.Served with boiled nugget potatoes.

Pork Chops and Dirty Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
Rice tasty but my thick pork chops were so dry even with 45 minutes of baking with lid on and at a lower temperature . Needs a gravy to eat it and definatly less time at baking.Maybe 25 minutes would have sufficed. Sorry won't be saving this recipe
