About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Anything new or different. I like mixing it up (pun intended). I have a knack for baking and annoy my sister (the paid professional chef) by eyeballing most of the creations I make. I hope to one day have my own gluten free bakery. I love feeding people and love cooking for anyone who will eat!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Eating as a group, at home, around the table. It's a lost art today.
My cooking triumphs
The picture perfect lemon pound cake. I'm pretty proud of the from scratch German chocolate cake I made last month.
My cooking tragedies
The brownie fiasco of 1989. Coco powder and the mixer on high. It took hours to clean up. My "Moby Dick" is a tasty gluten free popover. So many botched batches!!

Great-Grandmother Bubbie's Hamantaschen
These cookies turned out great!!! What is even better is that they were successfully made gluten free-not easy with most treats. I added one egg, decreased the flour by 2/3 to 3/4 cup (depending) and added 1 tsp. of xanthum gum to the dough. I kneaded thoroughly and chilled the dough overnight. Rolled the circles between two sheet or wax paper and used GF preserves as the filling. SO YUMMY!!!
