Tuscan Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2011
As written, very tasty. To make it five stars in my opinion, add a little garlic and parm. Also, I prefer kale, but the spinach is very good, too. You can definitely sub cream, half and half or milk for the evaporated milk. And do skim off the sausage fat, as another member suggested it doesn't do anything for flavor at all and just makes the soup look really oily. I cook my sausage at the bottom of the dutch oven in which I plan on cooking the soup - time saver and one less pan to clean. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Peachy Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
I don't like typical bread pudding with raisins, so this was a great treat. Five stars as written. I don't bake, either, and this was basically fool proof.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
This was soooo good. Five stars as written. I baked it at the end a bit to get it a little more crispy after essentially boiling in the wine. Also, instead of cornstarch, I used the leftover flour / seasoning mixture to thicken the sauce. That sauce makes the dish. Thanks so much for sharing!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
I love this recipe. It is not only the best spaghetti sauce I've ever made, but is honestly the best I've ever had. To each his/her own, I know, but this is GREAT and devoured by all every time I make it. Definitely *five stars as written*, though like other reviewers, I prefer to add a little ground pork to my meatballs.

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
This is truly a delicious, healthy and refreshing summer salad. I followed the recipe exactly and it was wonderful as written. Now, I didn't half the oil / vinegar because I added jicama, jalapeno, and grilled chicken. I bet it will be even better tomorrow after being in the fridge over night. Thank you!

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
If you're looking for run of the mill French Onion Soup, look elsewhere; if you're looking for AMAZING French Onion Soup, this is truly it. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out excellent. Thank you so much for submitting it. And to the person below me who only gave it a couple stars because they missed the wine and Swiss? This recipe called for both - did you review the wrong recipe?

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This is my favorite turkey recipe; in fact, I am making it now. I add some melted butter to the mix. Separating the skin from the meat is not exactly an easy task, but neither is cooking a turkey (and it's soooo worth it). Instead of water at the bottom of the pan, I use a stock (usually chicken) and stuff the cavity with a cut up orange, apple, onion and some celery. It turns out great everytime.

Green Bean Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
For me, this is hands down the best green bean casserole. I don't like casseroles with cheese because I feel it covers up the true flavors of the dish. For users who think this is bland, try using a southern style canned green bean. I use Hanover's in the white can and the extra flavor makes the dish a hit.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
This is a great, hearty soup. I followed the recipe, but omitted the optional wine and substituted squash for one of the zucchinis. I also used Italian greenbeans to add more Italian flair. It turned out really well, and makes a great Italian veggie soup without the pasta. Thanks!

Herb Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2008
Now I understand why this recipe has maintained its five star rating! I doubled the rub seasoning (used minced garlic instead) and the sauce (used red wine vinegar as it was all I had on hand). I was afraid the sauce would be overpowering considering how flavorful the rub was, but it really made the dish. Served with southern greenbeans and cinnamon apples (always a nice alternative to apple sauce with pork dishes), although the apples weren't really necessary because the sauce was nice and sweet. Thank you!

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2003
This was very good ham. I used fewer cloves, less corn syrup and some brown sugar as many others did. The glaze is very sweet, but it doesn't soak into the middle of the ham much (the outer pieces were too sweet) so it works well overall. It was also very easy to make... I'll be making it again. Thank you.

20 Minute Garlic Rosemary Chicken and Brown Rice Dinner

This is a nice dish, especially if you like rosemary. Fairly simple to make & fast too. I had to add a lot of salt, though... but that's my personal taste. Thanks for sharing it.
