Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2007
Heh.. I'm changing my review and rating b/c I made this recipe without the butter (found it in the microwave after the cookies were done)... oops! They still had wonderful flavor, just the texture was different. I also made them w/o raisins, but it was fine! More cake-like texture than the Quaker recipe. I think I may just stick to the dense Quaker Oats recipe and add the same spices. Thanks anyhow!

Easy Cocoa Ice Cream

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2007
Absolutely delicious! Beware though, this is a really rich ice cream and it's not the kind I'd like to eat in large portions... In an ice cream cone or to top some cake... Creamy and rich!

Scrumptious Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
Divine! I used half&half instead of heavy cream b/c that's all I had and it was great! I soaked the sliced strawberries/sugar mixture for 1-2 hrs and it was a delicious topping! I also used a 1/4 tsp cream of tartar.. why not? Topped it all off with homemade whip cream. I only got 10 shortcakes out of the dough, but I'm not complaining b/c these were just soo good! They disappeared before my boyfriend could eat one on St. Patty's. Thanks!

Real Italian Calzones

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
Delicious! I make these all the time, but unlike the picture, mine are overstuffed and fat! The key to making this even more awesome is a great dipping sauce. Use your best spaghetti sauce! Also, the dough is really great and can be used for any other calzone recipe of all sizes. Thanks!

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
These were pretty good, really gross looking though =/ I finally got my boyfriend to eat them (he claimed they looked like.. well, I won't mention it) on top of homemade biscuits. I added quite a bit more pepper b/c they were a little bland. Anyhow, pretty good. Thanks.

Sarah's Applesauce

I doubled this recipe and made it in my slow cooker. Took about 3-4 hours on high, no need to mash the apples, they mushed on their own.. yummy!

Cinnabutter

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
I used much less powdered sugar, approx. 2-3 tsp? This was absolutely divine! Especially on cinnamon raisin bagels... Mm!! Spices up boring toast, tastes great on bagels, mmm, great as gifts as well. Thank you!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
I soaked the beans for 17 hrs (I know.. a long time.. overnight+all day while I was at work!), came home and boiled them for a little under an hour and they were good to go. I followed the recipe, but couldn't find a 2qt dish, so I used a 8x8... and it was really full! Halfway through, I realized there was just too much liquid and it was watering down the taste (probably my fault for using the wrong size dish), so I made another batch of the sauce and mixed it in with the beans, baked it for the rest of the time, and it turned out great! Great flavor! Like another reviewer said, they taste similar to the can, so I'm not sure it's worth all that time, but I'm not too picky and the can taste fine to me. Oh and I only used 4 strips of bacon. Anyway, thanks!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2007
I downsized this recipe b/c I had a smaller piece of meat, so it is quite possible that I didn't get the proportions perfect. Nonetheless, the roast came out so bland! Could have done with more onion soup mix, salt, and possibly some spices. I don't like my food very salty at all, but this had absolutely no salt at all! I did add carrots and baby potatoes with the meat which made it a more complete meal. The gravy didn't come out very gravy like, so I heated it up in a saucepan and added some flour/cornstarch.. that worked out pretty well. I will probably try another recipe in the future. Thanks though!

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
Mmmm.. this was absolutely DIVINE on cinnamon raisin bagels. I only used 1-2 tsp of powedered sugar (mainly b/c I didn't really like that powdery texture) and reduced the honey to a little over 1/4 cup (just keep adding until you reach the desired taste). I stored this in a small jelly jar, would look great for a gift... thanks!!

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
Delicious. 24 minutes was perfect for me. The trick to moist cornbread is to top it off with honey in a crosshatch pattern (you can reduce the sugar in the actual recipe if it makes it too sweet, but I like it sweet). This will keep the cornbread moist for another day. YUM! Great with chili, great alone! Thank you.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
It was okay.. it was only a little better than canned chili. I doctored it up quite a bit, but it still didn't really taste great. I used cut up steak, in addition to the ground beef, 2 more cans of kidney beans, a can of diced tomatoes, and used less tomato juice than called for... and it was still runny. I added quite a bit more cayenne pepper, I just don't know what I did wrong, it wasn't great. With a little cheddar and sour credam on top, it was okay. I don't think I'll be making this again. Sorry..

Chewiest Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2006
I made this recipe as written, but I can't help thinking I did something wrong because the brownies turned out awful! Was uncooked and had a grainy sugar texture. Even the hungry boys wouldn't touch it. I won't be making this again.
