The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I went ahead and did as others suggested and added 1 cup of extra sugar. As a stand alone cookie, this would have been perfect. But if you are planning on icing the cookies, I would stick to the original recipe. My iced cookies were really sweet. After all that work, I wish I didn't add extra sugar.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
Excellent! I took advice of others and used 1/2 mayo. 1/2 sourcream. I put around 1/4 cup of Parmesan in the mix. I couldn't find diced jalapenos so ended up dicing one fresh one. It added plenty of taste and heat. I didn't want it too hot since children would be trying it. It was excellent. I topped with with the panko and parmesan and baked it. Served with toasted (olive oil, salt and pepper)bagette slices. Fantastic! I have received requests for recipes, so you know it is good! Thanks Denise!

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
Excellent! Just like everyone said. I did not blend the sauce and was so happy I didn't. It was fantastic the way it is directed in this recipe. I did, however, chose a cheaper peice of meat. The meat was tough and when paired with the sauce, every bite I thought to myself that I NEED to try this with the tenderloin. I know that it will be amazing! If you do chose a cheaper roast, you might want to give it more cooking time. I took mine out at 135 and it was a bloody mess on the inside. That was okay for me since I knew I was putting it in a crock pot and it would continue to cook. But if you wanted to serve immediately, definitely go with traditional beef temp guidelines. I loved this dish and will definitely make it again...soon...with filet! One more thing. I made the Goat Cheese Mashed Potato Gratin and that was outstanding with this dish!

Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
Very Good! One thing I would suggest is don't add salt. The broth has plenty in it. Give the broth a chance to evaporate. Then taste it. If you still need salt then add it. I added too early and my beans where a bit too salty. But still delicious!

Banana Spice Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
I thought these cookies were kind of boring. Nothing exciting on the taste. However...I must admit that my kids don't like nuts and raisins in the cookies, so I omitted them. I ended up putting a little icing on them to make them alittle more sweet. I think I was was looking for a little more spice than what I got. My kids definitely enjoyed them, so I am glad that I made them!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Great recipe! We couldn't stop eating them! I followed the recipe for the most part. I only modified what was already mentions. I doubled it which was perfect for my family. I cut back the salt to a little over 1/2 tsp and I added 1 teaspoon of vanilla. They were delicious and are now my only pancake recipe!

Ham and Potatoes Au Gratin

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
Such a comfort food! Very good! I did what other suggested and boiled the potatos first since I didn't have over an hour to cook it. I think the only suggestion I would have would be to cube the potatos smaller than what I did. More cheese to potato ratio! I also used fat free milk and it worked great (hey...whatever helps!)

Banana Crumb Muffins

Excellent! I did what others have suggested and used oil in place of the butter. Plus I added the cinnamon to the batter as well. I am making them for the second time this week since my kids devoured them! Thanks for the recipe!

King Cake

Is it me, or is this recipe really yeast tasting? I make bread and cinnamon rolls all the time. I am wondering if I am just comparing the taste too much. I really didn't like the strong yeast flavor of this recipe. I might try it again with only 2 1/2 teaspoons (1 package) of yeast. Anyone else have the same thought?

Easy to Make and Delicious!!! I alternated Pork and Beef on the Kabobs! I also marinated them for 2 days (not intentional). I thought the marinade would overwelm the meet, but it didn't. I also add tomato slices. Definitely will make this recipe again!!

Feta Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2002
Delicious. I added greek seasonings to the chicken. I also used already prepared feta, rosemary and basil cheese - crumbled and ready in the unique cheese section of the grocery store by the deli. Very easy to put together. Once cooked, I put lemon juice on the chicken and served with cous-cous and pepper salad. Very yummy!

Bacon and Cheddar Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2002
A nice alternative to the classic mash potatoes. The Miracle Whip in the potatoes gave it a tangy taste which complimented the bacon. I did make them a little to soon so put them in a corning dish, sprinkled cheddar cheese over the top and baked in the oven on a low temp. When my meat was done, the cheese was melted and the potatoes were still hot. Delicious!

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2002
I have never made a lemon pie before and this turned into a disaster. I can't blame the recipe, since obviously it is good. I was told I cooked it too long. How do you know when it is done? I waited until it was pudding thick. Is that too thick?
