I am Divorced from Husband No 2, (he hated my cooking), have 2 sons in their early 20's. My oldest son has become a vegetarian, and I am learning how to cook traditional Indian Vegetarian food. My other son only likes plain cooking, definitely nothing spicy or peppery. I am also disabled with Chronic Pain in my arms as a result of a spinal injury.
In the early 1900's my Grandma was a cook for the Prime Minister of England. Her speciality was Petit Fours.
When I cook, I like to play around with the recipes a bit, swapping ingredients and/or adding ingredients
My favorite things to cook
I love making Stir Fries, quick, easy and so much variety.
Spaghetti Bolognaise, Minestrone Soup, Gnocchi,
Roast Dinners, Dumplings, Stews and Casseroles, Spicy Indian Dahl, Rattatouille.
Home made Salad Dressings, Dips and Fruit Cake
My favorite family cooking traditions
Each year my mother would make her own tomato puree, olives, and pork sausages.
Every Xmas my Grandma made the Christmas Cake and the Fruit Mince and my Aunty made the Fruit Mince Pies. I make the Shortbread Bisuits.
My cooking triumphs
An extremely rich chocolate cheese cake that takes over 24 hours to make. My ex told me that only his sister makes the best chocolate cheesecake. He ate his words with a big smile on his face, and a huge apology for doubting my cooking abilities.
I have come up with a Dahl recipe that is not so bad, it is actually a combination of 2 Dahl recipes on this site.
I have also come up with a pretty nice Rattatouille.
My cooking tragedies
Where do I start???
The christmas pudding that was still uncooked on Xmas day, despite being in the slow cooker for approx 20 hours!
The eggs I boiled so long we had to throw away the burn't saucepan!
The Pizza we made for our school teachers that couldn't cut and we had to break the base on the edge of the table!
The pikelets we bounced off the walls.
The Frozen Sausage Rolls that I burnt in the microwave
