Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
As if this recipe needs any more reviews...but it is so good, that I have to comment. I had all but given up on iced sugar cookies bc they took so much time and never looked as nice as I imagined they would. This icing recipe has inspired me. Seriously life changing.

Lemon Cranberry Muffins

Good but nothing special. I used mini muffin tins to make these for a ladies brunch.

Brined and Roasted Whole Turkey

I followed the brine instructions exactly- I left the turkey in the brine overnight- turkey was moist and delicious.

Bowties and Broccoli

Easy, tasty, dinner. I used the recommendation of adding chicken stock and red pepper flakes. It was easy to leave some noodles and broccoli plain for my picky eater.

Cornbread Muffins I

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
Delicious. I doubled the recipe and used 1 can of corn (drained). I used mini muffin tins (no liners) and reduced bake time to 17 minutes. They turned out perfectly. I made them a week prior to a party and froze them- they were still delicious after being frozen.

Corn Dog Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
omg. delicious. So easy, we couldn't believe how good these were. I halved the recipe and used a mini muffin pan. I sliced 4 hotdogs and used 2 slices in each mini muffin. That proportion was perfect for us. I am sure I will be making these again and again.

Bacon Cheese Frittata

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
We loved this- I made it for a week night dinner and served it with hasbrowns. I took the submitter's advice and cooked the bacon ahead. This made for really quick and easy prep. This will also work well for when the in-laws visit since it is gluten free.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
We really enjoyed this. I followed suggestions from other reviewers and added spices. I added some frozen mixed veggies so that I didn't have to make a separate veggie side dish. I added my biscuits with 3 hours remaining- total cook time was about 6.5 hours. Good comfort food for a cool day.

Soy Ginger Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
The flavor was good. The trick for removing the skin was genius (was I the only one who didn't know how to do that?). But the extra marinade burned under the broiler and burned the foil to the pan- resulting in smoke and tough cleanup. If I make again, would need to go lighter on the basting to keep from having a pool of marinade on the pan.

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
Delicious and the proportions are just right. I followed the recipe exactly. Another reviewer mentioned that it was expensive- but I think the opposite. One box of granola at the store is almost $5, so this will save me a bundle in the long run!

Took other reviewer suggestion and used 3C zucchini. Made 1 loaf and 1 dozen muffins. Both turned out delicious.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Good coleslaw recipe. My favorite is the restaurant cole slaw from this site, but I needed a version that used only ingredients that I had on hand (ie no buttermilk). This worked just fine.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Delicious and easy. To save even more time I bought the bagged flavored roasted almonds that they now have at the grocery store. Everyone loved this salad and I will definitely be making it again.

Slow-Cooked Corn Chowder

Very good. This was so easy that my husband made it. :-). We don't care for ham, so we skipped it. Next time, I would add more potatoes (we used the cubed hash browns instead of shredded)

Southern Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2007
This was delicious. I cooked the meat on the stovetop the night before and stored in the crock pot over night in the fridge. Then before work the next day, I added the liquid smoke and turned on the crock pot for the day. An hour before serving we added a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce. The sandwiches are delicious!

Since we first tried these, this has become the ONLY chocolate chip cookie recipe I use. Amazingly delicious and they freeze very well. I make a full batch but freeze most- then DH can take a few at a time as a snack :-)
