Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
This just wasn't good. I am a whiz with sweet breads and this one just didn't come together. Watched it like a hawk so not to overcook, but it came out hard, dry and crusty. Won't be making again.

Cranberry Bars

Delicious. Less like a bar and tastes more like a cranberry dump cake. Serve ice cream over the top. The tart and the sweet combine perfectly!

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Delicious -- needs the addition of powdered garlic as well as a touch of garlic salt. Wonder flavor and the butter is plenty for the pasta. Super easy and quick!

English Royalty Chocolate Chip Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2012
Amazing. I was intimidated at first, since I've never made a scone before. BUT, this is super easy and delicious. Followed advice and used 8 tbsp of OJ and 8 tbsp of salted butter (and omitted salt from recipe). I also made a simple orange glaze (1 cup powdered sugar/1.5 tbsp OJ) and drizzled it on top. YUM!

This was okay. Needs a lot more garlic and pepper to suit our tastes. Good base recipe, will tweek it next time. Nice healthy meal.

Very delish! Great way to use leftover Rice Krispies. Didn't have butter, so I subbed mayo. Added some Emeril's and lots of garlic powder to the breading mix. Perfect.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
Sorry guys, I expected a lot more with all of the great reviews. I just wasn't impressed. Had a smaller chicken than the recipe called for and I still had to almost double the cook time. The smell was delicious while it was cooking but when we dug into it, the taste just wasn't spectacular. I'll stick to my old recipe.

Like I'm going to say anything more spectacular than 6,000+ people...but I will say that my bf begs me to make these all the time. They're perfect and delicious. Don't hesitate to be liberal with your additions of spices/nuts/etc. You can't go wrong!

Cream Puff Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
A must try. I too had lumps with the cream cheese, even after letting it get to room temp. I think next time, I will buy the whipped kind in the tub and use that. Even after beating it for an eternity, it was still a little lumpy. However, when I presented the finished product to my guests, no lumps appeared. Magic? I dunno, but this is the first dessert I have ever made where every single guest asked for a second helping. Hand down, just plain awesome!

Like many others, I didn't have the garlic chile paste, so I doubled the garlic and added chili powder. Very very tasty. Everyone loved it. Juicy, flavorful. YUM!

This was my first attempt at wings. They were absolutely amazing. The only part I will change is that first bite, when I realized I should have added more salt to the mix. Super delicious!

It's not like this recipe needs my little review, but it tends to jog my memory more than anything! Absolutely delicious. Prepared as is with the only substitution being brown sugar for the topping. My new go-to muffin recipe!

Pasta e Fagioli a la Chez Ivano

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2011
Disappointed, especially with all of the rave reviews. This soup is begging for more vegetables. The garlic rich broth is really good but the ground beef just leaves you wanting something...more? It's definitely a time consumer too. I won't be making it again, but if you are going to try it, def add some minced green pepper, mushrooms, zucchini.

Kielbasa with Peppers and Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
SO GOOD! Tossed the veggies with plenty of garlic powder, salt, pepper and a dash of cayenne. Layered the veggies in the bottom of the skillet with the meat on top so the grease cooked everything, simmered for about 20 minutes with the lid on. Removed the lid, let everything brown up for about 5 minutes and VOILA! Perfect. Make sure you cube the veggies to the same size for even cooking.

Good, easy. I also used onion and celery to prop it up instead of aluminum foil. Shoved some lemon into the cavity, rubbed spices under the skin. Voila! Dinner time.

Have been using this recipe for several months now. It's so easy and versatile. Usually add lots of garlic salt and powder, Emeril's for a kick, parsley and basil. They get this wonderful crunch to them. YUM!

Delicious! Tamed down the spice for the kids. Remember that there is no substitute for fresh ginger. Don't think you can use a powdered version and get the same taste. It makes all the difference!

Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
This was a good, dense breakfast muffin. The tartness of the strawberries are there and it's not very sweet. I didn't add the brown sugar as others suggested but I'll probably try it next time. The cinnamon and vanilla were good additions. Great with a cup of coffee. ONE LAST THING: I think the yield is wrong. It says 8, so I changed the yield to 12 since I wanted to make a full batch, but that batter made enough for 21-22 muffins. I'm thinking the actual recipe would be perfect for 12.
