I've made this now with fresh raspberries, fresh blueberries, fresh pitted tart cherries, and apple slices. Each time I followed the recipe exactly except the apple one - in that I coated the apples in sugar and apple pie spice as if for an apple pie filling, then drizzled with melted cinnamon chips. No matter how I've made it, it's still fantastic.

I'm doing my holiday baking and my mom just reminded me on the phone, "Don't forget that mailman cookie!" This recipe is really easy to make and very tasty. It's a great cookie for people who don't like chocolate or are just plain tired of it. A nice flavorful change from the standard holiday cookies.

As I'm getting ready to make a triple batch of this for Christmas, I figured I ought to rate it! I downloaded this a couple years ago, and have been using it ever since. My mom doesn't want any other kind of cookie! She doesn't like chocolate so it makes it hard to find something she likes. The recipe is very easy to make, the cookies freeze well. And they are very, very tasty! The dates make it a nicer cookie than raisins, which can be a little tart or bitter sometimes. Great just out of the oven or a couple days later, these are a permanent addition to my recipe box.
