About this Cook
I'm happily married and have three kids that love what I cook. Now that my two boys are away at college, I still cook just as much - I just put it in freezable containers that they can take it back to school with them. They love it, and it helps them save money too. I learned to cook from my mother, and have pictures of myself cooking with her at the age of 3. It's something that I enjoy doing - and believe it or not - it relaxes me!
My favorite things to cook
My son spent 6 weeks in Italy with the study abroad program at his school, and he brought me back a WONDERFUL cookbook from Italy. I've loved cooking those recipes! My favorite things to cook are the "home cooking" recipes that my mother taught me. Gumbo, Stewed Chicken with Mashed Potatoes, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Homemade Chicken & Dumplins (from scratch), Chicken Pot Pie, Crawfish Fettuccine, basically, EVERYTHING!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking around the holidays and sharing with friends and family. Usually I will back DOZENS of batches of cookies for my daughter to take to her high school and hand out to friends and favorite teachers. I'll package them in cute bags with ribbons. I love Thanksgiving and all the traditional foods that I cook during that time. At Christmas, our tradition is now Gumbo!
My cooking triumphs
Usually everything comes out good. I can't really name one "triumph."
My cooking tragedies
I cannot make homemade bread. My mother died before she was able to show me how. She made the best homemade bread. All recipes I have tried to make never come out like hers. I hate that I never learned!

Dill Cucumber Dip
This dip is the best! A welcomed change from the typical french onion dip at parties. I promise if you make this, SOMEONE will ask for the recipe!

Mediterranean Tilapia
It was "ok." After paying the price for Tilapia, though, I wish I had cooked it another way.
