Honey Glazed Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2006
Great! I tried sliced baked sweet potatoes just laid along side the tenderloin about half way done and spread a little maple syrup over those - the aroma alone is worth 5 stars. The meal was a hit.

Baked Corn

This is wonderful. My chef in training (14 y/o grandson) had to cook a dish for a baseball team party - supposed to be a joke, but I gave him this recipe and his friends and their parents loved it! iT was a barbecue and I passed out copies of this recipe to the parents. He promises to support me in my old age with his major league baseball salary!

Fried Cabbage II

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2006
OMG Jen - Thank you so much. This review is from a person who had to go outside when my mom or anyone cooked cabbage! Could not stand the smell. This recipe is great. The only thing I did different and proably everyone else knew to do this - but I have never, ever cooked cabbage - I did add salt and pepper and covered it to help wilt the cabbage faster. Not for too long and when thoroughly cooked, it was still a little crisp and delicious. I loved it and my family did as well. I am 67 y/o and considered to be a good cook in my circle, but this recipe absolutely tops all of mine. Thank you so very much. A fan!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2005
This is a wonderful recipe! As other have suggested I did add the 1 tbs of white sugar and a touch more butter. For the reviewer who asked could it be put together the night before. Certainly! I did it and it came out beautifully and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed it. I have been asked to prepare this delicious dish for Thanksgiving! Try it.. Marty

Onions Baked with Rosemary and Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
Fantastic! The aroma fills the house and made everyone hungry before I could get the food on the table. The only thing I did different was to cover the onions for the first 30 minutes - was afraid the liquid would evaporate too quickly. Everyone, including non-loving onion lovers, really enjoyed this dish. Will definitely add it to the Thanksgiving menue. Thanks.

Chateaubriand

AWESOME. I followed the instructions exactly and the fillet tasted like the last one I had at Taste Of Texas restaurant! It is so simple, yet so delicious. If you love a good steak dinner, you must try this. I've shared this with everyone I know and am getting rave reviews. Another reviewer suggested making a sauce - so I did and served it on the side. I just added a couple of tablespoons of Merlot wine to the steak pan, scraped up the crusty fon and let it reduce a little. Outstanding. Rayna you are very gracious for sharing this with your All Recipes friends.

Pork Chops with Apples, Onions, and Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2005
I tried this one last night and it was a hit, HOWEVER, I had help from 2 grandchildren (6 & 13) who were in charge of the brown sugar - also added cinamon, nutmeg, ground cloves - then were surprised when the apples tasted like apple pie! There was none left and there were only 3 of us! Will definitely make again when they are here and if they can remember their part of the recipe (smile). Grateful grandmother.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2003
Thank you Sandy! This is the best baked chicken ever. I cut everything in half, as I was only cooking one chicken breast (with bone in and skin on) for myself. I did add a dash of cayenne pepper to tone down the sweetness a bit - to fit my own taste. This was a trial run - I will serve it for company next week. Be sure and put a cookie sheet below your baking dish - when this begins to carmelize - it may overflow. It makes a beautiful piece of chicken - like the photos in cookbooks. Again, thank you Sandy for sharing. It is absolutely wonderful. I wish I could give it 6 stars. P.S. I forgot to add: I prepared teh sause in a pot on the stove, brought it to a boil and then turned the fire out - a must for it to carmelize correctly. Also I turned the chicken breast over after 30 minutes. If it is too sweet for you, cut back on the honey and add a extra catchup, maybe little mustard. Enjoy!

Grandma's Famous Salmon Cakes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2003
This is an excellent basic recipe and I have made it several times, but may I suggest a couple of things: First, instead of using flour, try crushed corn flake cereal - use your own judgement as to the correct amount, but enough to thicken the mixture. You will have a crisp patty. Second, my grandmother advised me a long time ago that when using canned fish, to always add a pinch or two of white sugar - some how does away with the tin can taste. It works too!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

This was an absolute failure. My family loves meatloaf and I've tried several recipes, but this one was soggy and too sweet. No one would eat more than one bite. Sorry.

Doreen's Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2003
If I could, I would give this recipe 6 stars. It is wonderful. Did not have fresh ginger, so used ground ginger. Marinated about 6 hours and the T-Bone steaks were fork tender and great tasting - not sweet at all, as one might expect. Just delicious grilled over medium heat charcoal to desired doneness. Next I will try it with chicken and pork tenderloin - my family can't wait. Thanks Doreen!

Hamburger Potato Casserole

Wow! A recipe from "yesteryear." Add some baby carrots and you have what we used to call "College Casserole" - for obvious reasons - you can increase the recipe and feed all your hungry classmates. Also after graduation, you can fix this and feel all your friends who are still looking for jobs - inexpensive and very good! Thanks so much for sharing this. I had forgotten the recipe.

Candie's Easy Potato and Onion Dish

Reviewed: May 16, 2003
This sounded so good, but after reading some of the reviews, I also made added something. I omitted the dried parsley and just before baking I added 2 tablespoons of red cooking wine (sherry) and cut of fresh parsley. I also added some grated cheese on top for the last few minutes until melted. It was great. My whole family loved this dish - thanks for providing it for us.

Baked Chicken with Peaches

This was way too sweet for my family! No one would eat the chicken. I rinsed the sauce off and dried with paper towels and applied barbecue sauce and threw them on the grill, therefore, not a total waste of food.

The perfect meal! I do partially cook the bacon in the microwave - gets rid of a lot of the grease and cuts down on time to get the bacon crisp. I cook up several then place in a container with an insulated overall cover and take to Little League games - makes me a popular grandma!

Easy Caramelized Onion Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2003
My grandchildren always ask for this when they visit. I did adjust just one part and it may help someone else. After the pork chops are tender, remove to a heated plate. Leave the cover off the pan and sprinkle the onions with a little white sugar. The water will evaporate quickly and the onions will carmalize beautifully. Serve them on top of the chops and then make gravey in the same pan.

Awesome Roast Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2003
This is a great roast recipe. The left over roast is even better! I cut the roast up in chunks and added the left over gravy the roast had cooked in, potatoes, onions, carrots, celery, can of diced tomatoes (3 dried red peppers - my preferece), a can +/- of water and salt and pepper to taste. Serve this on toast or whatever you like. It is delicious.
