Wheat Germ Drop Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2003
These are really good! I was talking to my mom earlier, and both she & my dad are in Weight Watchers, and when I told them I had found a recipe for cookies that you make with wheat germ & whole wheat flour, she wanted to try some. So, at ten o'clock in the evening, I'm making them. And they are YUMMY! Not too sweet, but a very good cookie. Thanks for sharing, Linda!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2003
WOW!!!!!!! Star, this is GREAT! I made it last night, put in the fridge overnight to set and it is one of, if the not the most, delicious cheesecake I've ever made. I made a shortbread crust instead of the chocolate cookie crumb one, and it was great. Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe! You've got a fan!!

Chewy Chocolate Cookies I

I made these last night. I had to bake them a little bit longer than the recipe said, but still a very good cookie. Thanks for sharing, Linda! My husband loves them.

Salisbury Steak

I made this for dinner tonight with a can of low-fat french onion soup. It was delicious! My brother in law, the great Salisbury steak taste tester, has not yet contributed his opinion. But the other three people who live here loved this! Thanks for sharing, Kelly! Better than Swanson's!!!

Butterscotch Rum Pound Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2002
My mom asked me to bring desserts for Thanksgiving this year (this is the first year in several my husband and I haven't done it with his family), so I'm thinking this cake looks really wonderful. I'm just wondering if I could use rum extract instead of the rum in the cake. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! :)

Vanilla and Chocolate Delight

I have a recipe that is almost exactly the same as this one that's called "Democrat-Republican Dessert" - I don't know why, maybe because no matter what your political affiliation you're guaranteed to love it? Anyway, it is delicious. The only difference between my recipe and this one is that instead of the crispy rice chocolate bars, mine calls for either shreds of chocolate or coconut over the top. It's a great dessert no matter what you call it. Thanks for sharing Brenda!

Sour Cream Lemon Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2002
I hate to be the only negative review here, but this did not turn out at all. My filling didn't thicken up, and there was wya too much for the pie crust. Also, not enough lemon flavor. I froze my pie and it was all right that way, but after it melted it was a sticky mess. Sorry, Michelle! I am, however, up to trying this again and seeing if it was maybe just my fault...

Banana Oatmeal Bread

This is a very good bread. The oatmeal really makes a difference. It's not very sweet, but it is very moist and good. I just made it yesterday it's almost completely gone. Thanks for sharing, Carolyn!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2002
These are really great cookies with almost too many chocolate chips to handle. The one problem I had with them was that after adding the two cups of flour, I had a very stiff dough and had to mix the chips in by hand. However, these are very good cookies and I'll be making them again. Thanks for sharing, Elizabeth!

Zucchini Chocolate Orange Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2002
I never liked zucchini in anything until I tried this cake. It was moist, succulent, rich, and just downright decadent. I had two pieces of this right out of the oven and I could only finish part of them. After my brother lost his homecoming game last night in a miserable defeat, a slice of this phenomenal cake cheered him right up. This is a SPENDIFFEROUS recipe and I'm never trying another for zucchini cake again. Thanks for sharing Ani!

Aaron's Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2002
First of all, Amanda, let me tell you that you are my cookie SAVIOR! These are some of the best cookies that I've ever had and I have you to thank for it! I used a sour cream white cake mix and chocolate pudding instead of the butterscotch, along with melted butter to sub for the vegetable oil, and I had a truly phenomenal cookie. Nothing I've made lately has turned out but these cookies! These are my husband's new favorite. I'm never going to try another oatmeal cookie recipe again. Thanks for sharing!

Urban Legend Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2002
These were delicious cookies! I made some as a gift for my brother-in-law Tim (what else do you get for the man who has everything? LOL) along with some brown butter cookies, also from this site. He loved them! So did I! The one gripe I had is that my dough was kind of stiff, but it did give me a truly stupendous cookie, so why should I complain?

Danish Kringle

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2002
I'm a star with my family for finding this recipe! At every Schmidt (my maiden name) family reunion I go to, there's always someone saying how they wish they could make kringle, it's their favorite, and on and on. My granddad grew up in Wisconsin near a bakery, and he got to have fresh kringle on a regular basis. I'm making him this for Christmas, and can't wait to see if it's just as good as he remembers it. Thanks for sharing, Colleen! More comments coming later...

Blueberry Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2002
I've had some really bad luck lately with stuff that I've cooked, but I have to say that these were very good. I used huckleberries instead of blueberries, which I had in the freezer (a gift from a very generous friend!) I wasn't sure if I would like these, but they are great! My husband wants me to make this dessert again as a crumble, so this is definitely going to be on my regular recipe rotation. Thanks for sharing the recipe for these yummy-in-the-tummy bars!

Best Peach Cobbler Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2002
I made this the other day with huckleberries. That was not my problem. The two of us were on vacation at my family's summer cabin, and the baking powder that I used was TEN YEARS OUT OF DATE! I'm not joking. The end result was this horrible chewy flat pancake thing stuck to the bottom of the pan. It just did not work out, and it tasted awful. The baking powder's fault. Again. However, I am making this again just as soon as I can. And this time I'm going to use peaches. And good baking powder! Thanks for sharing, Jill!
