Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
This IS our favorite chicken recipe of all time. I fixed it for a bridge luncheon and only had time to marinate for 4 hours and it was awesome. Fixed it again a few days ago and marinated it overnight and baked it at 350 for 45 minutes and everyone said it was the best ever, even my picky grandson. Couldn't grill it either time as a wren built her nest in our grill and we had to wait for the four babies to fly! I would recommend NO changes. Thank you so much for making me such a success! Jan

Coffee Liqueur Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
I was so disappointed as was hubby and we ate just small square but noticed the next day, they were more flavorful and the day after, we finished them and that was their best day. So, make them a day ahead so the coffee and liqueur flavors can meld.

Bacon-Cauliflower Tossed Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
Hubby isn't much of a salad eater but he LOVED this! I used yellow onion as I didn't have green onions. Cut the calculations down to 4 and have made it twice in one week!

Fried Broccoli

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
I would cut down to 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes next time, but we don't like food very spicy. This is an interesting dish and I would recommend it for a real change when entertaining but there is nothing like steamed broccoli with a little butter for family meals.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
I was disappointed. I bought the 11 oz. bag of mini Reese's and ran out. Followed directions to a tee and not as great as old standbys that I passed on to try something new. If you eat one warm, put whole cookie in your mouth or you'll get messy like my hubby who couldn't wait as they look so good.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
I just had to add my 2cents as this is the BEST chocolate cake! I made it twice in two weeks and company both times demanded the recipe. I didn't change a thing. Too easy and too good as is. Thank you so much for this recipe!

Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
Sorry folks, guess you haven't had my friend Helen's Sangria! She won't share her recipe and I thought this might be it. I followed the suggestions of eliminating the sugar and using Ginger Ale as a carbonator, added gingerale to the glass at the end, didn't work. Added the 1/4 c. of sugar and it didn't help much so when the brige group arrived, I dumped the 2 cups of Ginger Ale in the pitcher with the mix. There were no 2nds asked. Didn't expect any to be leftover but it is 'marinating' in the refrigerator and I will probably throw it out. Oh, I did use a good wine that I would drink. Too sour, even with sugar, and too lemony and fruit didn't look pretty, like Helen's.

Grandma Sal's Peach Kuchen

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2005
I lost my 40 year plus peach kuchen recipe, this is identical to mine except my old recipe called for sour cream in place of whipping cream. I use lite sour cream and fresh nutmeg on top. Sour cream gives it a wonderful flavor.

Baked Beans II

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2005
This was the best! Only advice: I changed the ingredients to recommended measurements for 14 to serve at a party and we had a lot left over, which was a good thing, but I will cut measurements down to 10 for our next cookout for 14 people as refrigerator space is at a premium, no room for leftovers.

Moist Garlic Chicken

I followed directions, had a lot of broth. It was quick, it was moist, but there are so many more memorable chicken recipes out there that I don't think this is a keeper.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2005
This is a keeper! Sherry gave it the most punch. Had to add more beef broth and would have liked a little more gravy as I'm left with hamburgers, rice and not much gravy for leftovers.

Slow Cooker Rosemary and Red Pepper Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2005
I followed the recipe, chicken wasn't too dry, dry enough though but it was the gravy that spoiled the looks of the dish, uncongealed comes to mind, and something just missing to make this recipe stand out.

The flavor was good but it was too runny. I followed directions too. I think it would have been better is I had of drained the frozen broccoli.

Pecan Tassies

My husband would give this a 5, but I found the dough too floury tasting, wonder if adding pecans to the dough would have helped. The mix was delicious, just feel the dough needs something, cinammon, a little sugar, or nuts, or maybe all three? Jan

Almond Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
I read the reviews first, sauted onions, celery, & almonds, added 1/2 t. of white pepper. Still too much rice. Good flavor but the rice overwhelms the chicken. I didn't have mushroom soup so I substituted with cream of chicken. GardeningJan

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

I loved this recipe and had a horrible time trying to find it to review it! I had to put in the submitter's name to find it. I searched breads, muffins, and cake and no recipe. Anyway, I ran out of cream cheese for the top and even without the cream cheese, they were still delicious. GardeningJan

Pork Chops with Apple Curry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2003
The flavor was excellent but as someone already stated, too much sauce. I would cut the apple juice, applesauce, and curry powder in half if I were to make this again. Too many recipes, too little time so only a few make my 'keeper' list, glad I tried this though. GardeningJan
