About this Cook
I'm 28 and have been married for just over 5 years. I come from a family of healthy eaters who are big on veggies, chicken and fish. My husband comes from a dairy farm and his family is all meat, potatoes and creamy fattening foods! I'm always trying new recipes to try and compromise on our tastes... usually I win because I'M the cook!!!! :)
My favorite things to cook
So far my favorite thing to cook is pretty much anything on the BBQ grill. I love my food simple, and you can't beat the flavor when your food is grilled!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My sister and I making Christmas sugar cookies, backyard barbecues with my dad at the helm, and making tamales with my mom.
My cooking triumphs
So far I've been lucky. My parents are both great culinary influences and I rarely have botched a recipe.
My cooking tragedies
Once my best friend and I tried to make salt water taffy, and we didn't have any flavoring so we tried using powdered kool-aid! Needless to say, it was a disaster. But we had a lot of fun! I also tend to botch any and everything in a crock pot! I don't know why, I have the black touch I guess!!

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas
very good!!!! I thought I had green chils's (I always have those!!!) but I didn't. So I made do with a similar sized can of chile verde and I have to say it was a FANTASTIC substitution. Other than that, followed it to a T. Highly recommended. Oh, I used corn tortillas too... personal preference there.

Cinnamon Sugar Crisps
So easy and YUMMY!!! So I did my first batch using splenda, and they are, eh, ok, but nothing to really satisfy. The second batch I did half sugar and half splenda and they were soooooo much better! I would suggest not using splenda at all! Real sugar just adds amazing texture and depth of flavor that splenda just can't. The splenda kind is ok,but the sugar kind is WOW!

Chicken and Rice
I did not care for this. I followed the recipe to a T even. I agree the chicken is very bland and flavorless, I think it needs to be seasoned before being cooked or that everything needs to be mixed up well before baking. Also, I did not care for the flavor the onion soup mix left. Now I have an entire casserole pan to eat and it is not very good. Not sure why everyone is raving about this one. :( I was really disappointed.
