Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
A big YUM! I added a little grated parmesan to this recipe as well as more garlic (and we always sprinkle Montreal steak seasoning on any burger). To keep them nice and juicy I browned them well in my skillet, then added just a little water at the end of cooking, put the lid on and let them steam for about 5 min. OMG they were delish!

Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
A very good and filling soup. I made a half recipe of this because I only had 2 c. of canned pumpkin. Also I replaced the heavy whipping cream with evaporated milk to save some calories. Don't skip the fresh herbs (if you can get them) that really added to the flavor I thought. The soup tasted even better the next day.

Rainbow Pasta Salad I

Reviewed: May 23, 2008
Excellent! I love to make this for summer gatherings because I know it's always a favorite. My boys call it "that pizza salad". I make it the day before and add most of the dressing while the pasta is still warm. Refrigerate it overnight and the next day add the other ingreds. and the rest of the dressing. So delicious!

Cranberry BBQ Chicken

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
The whole family loved this one! I used 6 skinless, boneless breast halves and just salt and peppered them and put them in a 9x13. Then sauteed the onion, celery, 1/2 c. chopped green pepper and 2 cloves minced garlic until everything was softened. Added the cranberry sauce, bbq sauce (and a dash of tabasco). Baked uncovered for about an hour, basting twice. It was extremely yummy :).. I know I'll be making this one often.

Balsamic Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
As written these carrots were too sweet for us, also not cooked enough using the time given. The second time I made them I started by microwaving them with a little water for 4 min, covered. Then I drained the water off and put them in a skillet with: 1 T. olive oil, 2 T. balsamic, zest of 1 orange, and a dash of salt. I heated them through until the balsamic had evaporated.... delicious!

Creamy Baked Chicken

Reviewed: May 9, 2008
I doubled this recipe (just used boneless chix breast halves) to make enough to serve my family with an extra dish to take to a friend who'd just came home from the hospital. Everyone enjoyed it... thanks for an easy, yummy recipe!

Baked Lamb Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
This was so easy and the lamb came out fantastic! Very tender and favorful. I added a small amount of honey to the egg and worchestershire marinade and used seasoned breadcrumbs to dredge in. Served the chops w/ couscous, tabouli, hummus and warm pita.... the meal got a big YUM from everyone at the table. Thanks for the recipe that is now my favorite way to cook lamb chops!

Quinoa Salad with Dried Fruit and Nuts

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
Very good salad! We added additional cayenne pepper to spice it up a bit more and I'll add some minced garlic next time I make it... but all in all a healthy, delicious salad.

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
Excellent! I doubled the recipe since I had about 8 c. of homemade chicken stock on hand. Using suggestions from other reviewers I sauteed 4 cloves garlic, minced along w/ 1 c. each of onion, celery and sliced carrots and added this to the simmering stock. I used 4 c. of 2% reduced fat milk instead of the cream, but didn't have to double the butter or flour for thickening. The soup thickened up great with just the single recipe amount. I served this with a warm loaf of ciabatta bread... the whole family really enjoyed it! Thanks so much Stephanie!

Crumb Topping for Pies

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
Very good... I've used it on pies, muffins and coffee cakes. You can add nuts or coconut for variation...maybe 1/3 to 1/2 c. My family really likes the coconut added in. It toasts and gets brown while the pie or cake is baking. I recently made Aloho Quick Bread from this site (used for muffins) then topped it with this w/ the coconut added in. Really fantastic! Thanks for a recipe I'll use over & over.

Pistachio Mallow Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
Used this as a St. Patrick's day dessert for our family dinner. It turned out very nice. I only used an 8 oz. Cool Whip (lite) because that was what I had on hand. It worked fine and everyone really enjoyed this... thanks for a keeper!

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
Excellent recipe! I let the honey, butter & Dijon rest before brushing it on the salmon. It thickened up and coated the salmon nicely. Then I just pressed the bread crumb mixture into the top of the fillets. I baked for about 20 min. for 6 normal sized fillets. Thanks for a recipe I know I'll make often!

Category Five Hot Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2008
Wow-oh-Wow!! Great hot sauce! My husband has always wanted to try making hot sauce at home and this turned out great. I had to substitute some jalapenos, just because I couldn't find all the serranos we needed. Just a few suggestions for those new to the world of hot peppers...(1) wear kitchen gloves when taking off the stems (2)remove some or all of the seeds to reduce the heat and (3)wait awhile (and don't inhale) before taking the lid off that blender! Thanks for a great recipe!

Brazilian White Rice

Wonderful rice! Made it as stated the first time and it's excellent. Second time around I used chicken stock in place of the water and added some chopped cilantro and parsley. Really great that way too. Thanks for a keeper recipe!

Garlic and Artichoke Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
O.k. as is, but to me it's way better when using a white sauce (olive oil w/ minced garlic, warmed in microwave to infuse the oil) or a pesto sauce. We also like it with a stronger cheese like romano mixed w/ mozzerella. Fresh basil is really good on this too.

Aloha Quick Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
A wonderful quick bread. Didn't change a thing in the recipe and it was fantastic. The only change for me was decreasing the baking time. An hour and 20 min. would have resulted in a burned loaf... mine took about 65 min. Thanks for a great recipe I'll use often!

Delicious & easy to make! I used milk chocolate chips because that's all I had on hand. Just poured it into a buttered 9x13 and after 2 hrs. in the fridge it was perfect... kids really loved it!

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
The marinade gets 5 stars... it's fantastic! Overall though, I gave this a 4 because the tilapia, in my opinion, is just too delicate of a fish to stand up to this recipe. Next time I'll use haddock fillets, or a similar fish sliced in thicker fillets.

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2007
What a great drink mix to have on hand, especially during our cold winter months in northeastern Ohio. Thanks to all the great reviews, I (1)reduced the sugar to 2C.(will reduce to 1-1/2C. next time)(2)omitted the cardamom and (3)added the allspice, nutmeg and white pepper listed in the header. Thanks for a "keeper"!
