About this Cook
I am married and have two cats. I love any dessert and enjoy Asian and Indian inspired meals. I come from an Italian family and thus food has always been important. It's hard to believe that we're all slender!
My favorite things to cook
While I wouldn't say that I excel at preparing any one thing in particular, I seem to get good feedback on my soups which I also enjoy making. Hard to screw up I guess! I also enjoy making apple crisp and chocolate molten cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Coming from an Italian family, food seems to have played a special part in my life. Growing up we had large family gatherings every weekend at my grandmother's. Holidays have always been spent preparing and eating meals as a family. It seems that preparing a meal has been one of the ways that both my grandmother and mother have showed their love and affection for us. My mom always prepares prime rib with the all trimmings on Sundays. We also have special desserts associated with the various holidays. Not sure I'll ever master these. My family also prepares and cans their own tomato sauce in addition to making the best damn sausage you'll ever eat.
My cooking triumphs
Finding this site! I've always considered myself an able cook but much of it was trial and error. And then I found allrecipes.... I love the fact that others have tried it and share their tips and modifications.
My cooking tragedies
There have been several!!! One that sticks out in my mind is learning that wax paper is not a suitable substitute for parchment paper. After I put out the oven fire, all that was left of the cookies was ashes. Lesson learned. Baking seems to be more difficult for me, the recipes seem more finicky. I have wasted countless hours and money on high priced ingredients only to have to pitch the final result (i.e. biscotti).

Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding
Wow! I've never made bread pudding so not quite sure what to expect but this was stellar. I substituted Splenda for the sugar and it turned out great. Made a little maple bourbon sauce to drizzle on top and it was a hit!

Creamy Rice Pudding
This is an AMAZING recipe! I put an Asian spin on mine though - I use Jasmine instead of plain rice and substitute coconut milk instead of plain. Yummy!!!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce
This was exactly as the name suggests - quick, easy AND delicious. But it only took 1 cup of milk... Anyway, I added some crab meat, my husband added bacon. Both were good. This is a keeper.
