About this Cook
I am married and have two cats. I love any dessert and enjoy Asian and Indian inspired meals. I come from an Italian family and thus food has always been important. It's hard to believe that we're all slender!
My favorite things to cook
While I wouldn't say that I excel at preparing any one thing in particular, I seem to get good feedback on my soups which I also enjoy making. Hard to screw up I guess! I also enjoy making apple crisp and chocolate molten cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Coming from an Italian family, food seems to have played a special part in my life. Growing up we had large family gatherings every weekend at my grandmother's. Holidays have always been spent preparing and eating meals as a family. It seems that preparing a meal has been one of the ways that both my grandmother and mother have showed their love and affection for us. My mom always prepares prime rib with the all trimmings on Sundays. We also have special desserts associated with the various holidays. Not sure I'll ever master these. My family also prepares and cans their own tomato sauce in addition to making the best damn sausage you'll ever eat.
My cooking triumphs
Finding this site! I've always considered myself an able cook but much of it was trial and error. And then I found allrecipes.... I love the fact that others have tried it and share their tips and modifications.
My cooking tragedies
There have been several!!! One that sticks out in my mind is learning that wax paper is not a suitable substitute for parchment paper. After I put out the oven fire, all that was left of the cookies was ashes. Lesson learned. Baking seems to be more difficult for me, the recipes seem more finicky. I have wasted countless hours and money on high priced ingredients only to have to pitch the final result (i.e. biscotti).

Banana Muffins II
This receipe was quick and easy and yeilded exactly what you'd expect, a basic banana muffin that tasted good but was just average.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
I love pancakes and I have been searching for the perfect recipe forever. Unfortunately, the search continues. I added some vanilla and beat the egg white separately for extra fluffiness but to no avail. These pancakes came out flat and dense. Their only saving grace was that they were easy to make. Still looking for the perfect light and airy pancake...

Slow Cooker Cilantro Lime Chicken
Very easy prep and versatile meal, great for a crowd. I think it would work great as part of a warm dip. Make sure you love the salsa you use as that's pretty much what the final dish will taste like.
