Honey Wheat Bread I
Although I love to cook and bake this was the first time I ever made homemade bread, other than in a breadmaker. I followed the recipe exactly, and my whole family loved it both fresh from the oven and a few days later. It was truly delicious. Considering the health benefits I don't know why anyone would make white bread from scratch when you could make whole wheat that tastes like this. My only other comment would be that going by the times suggested in the recipe, my bread didn't rise quite as much as it should have, and I did use rapid rise yeast. It may have been because my house is very cold! Next time I'll leave more time for rising.

Chicken Soup I
This was easy and very good. I went out on a limb and used a whole bunch of turnips! This was a great way to get them by (into?) my kids - they thought this was "regular" chicken soup. Balance the bitterness of your turnips with carrots and a teaspoon of sugar. I don't like dill in chicken soup so I skipped that. My kids also liked not having celery in there - it was there but they didn't know because everything except some carrots and the chicken had been pureed.

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak
Don't read this if you don't like it when people make tons of substitutions! I use dry onion soup mix in place of the beef boullion, 3 T flour instead of cornstarch, 2 cups chopped fresh tomatoes instead of canned (yum!), and instead of the soy sauce I do 2 T each of red wine, teriyaki, and worcestershire. Skip the salt & sugar. 5 1/2 hours on low.
