Meat Pie (Tourtiere)

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
I made this for a family party and everyone loved it. I decided to double the recipe at the last minute so wound up using half beef and half pork. Left out the cinnamon-after reading reviews and used more allspice. I also microwaved my potatoes and didnt wind up doubling the water just added enough to let it simmer. Did not use egg or paprika and the top was beautiful.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
I tried this recipe because it uses ingreds I always have. I made just 1/2 batch and it came out just fine. I made mini fondant roses, following a technique I found on cake central called duff roses. It was very easy.

Swiss Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
This was good, I'd prob make it again. I diced my chicken and didnt read the directions very well because I added a can(from the soup) of milk instead of just 1/4 cup. But it turned out fine. Oh and I used cheddar as I was out of swiss.

Sugar Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
I thought this was very good. It did take a long time to thicken. I used a 9" pie pan and it filled it nice and full. I refrigerated it overnight and it sliced nicely and held its shape. I would make this again.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
Yum! These were so good, esp. right out of the oven. Did 1/2 with cinn.sugar and half, coarse salt. I preferred the salt. The cinn ones tasted a bit like fried dough...good, but not when you are expecting pretzel. Next time might use less butter or spray. Left the fingers a bit greasy.

Herbed Lentils and Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
I altered this recipe so I'm giving it a 5, dont know what the origional recipe would rate. I did not have lentils so just used 1 cup brown rice, used fresh herbs, 2 cans reduced sodium chick broth and 1/2 cup parm. Tossed all in a covered cass. and baked at 350 for 1 1/2hrs.

Speedy Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
This was good, we just made this for an activity with my kids friends. We did one batch with vanilla and one batch with root beer extract. Shook for the 7 mins. They had fun and laughed but got tired of it toward the end. It was very soft. But they ate it right away.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
this was really good. I made it exactly. Top came out a bit brown. Mine did not crack. My husband loves plain cheesecake. I thought it could use chocolate or fruit topping as it was a bit bland. If I make it to serve plain again, I think I'll add more sugar and vanilla.

Oven Brown Rice

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
I'll give this a 4 because as is would be kind of boring. I added to mine and thought it was great. I didnt use the beef broth, used fat free low sodium chick and about 1 cup of some homemade turkey gravy I had in the freezer, so I left out the butter. I also added a clove of garlic, a handful of fresh herbs from the garden, a small diced onion and some finely diced grilled chicken-1 boneless breast. I cooked it covered and it did take more than an hour to absorb all the liquid, I served it with steamed broccoli. I salt and peppered mine at the table(my hubby doest use it)

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
These were so good. I usually use the recipe off the back of the canister of cocoa, which we really love but I thought I'd try this. I used hershey's special dark chips. Took about 30min to cook. We couldnt wait for them to cool. But if you could they'd be even better.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: May 22, 2008
This was pretty good, a bit bland. I used 2t vanilla. I think I would do either bitter flavor shortning or 1/4c butter 1/4c short next time. It took a fair amount of time to dry 30min but dried nice and hard.

Banana Blast II

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
mmmm....I always keep bananas in the freezer,Just stick 'em in when they get too ripe. Peel them when you are ready to use in a recipe. I left out the water like everyone else, but had to blend for a really long time, due to the frozen banana, could've put in a splash more skim milk, but didnt want to dilute the banana taste. Now I have an ice cream headache from drinking it.

Roasted Beets and Sauteed Beet Greens

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
Yum, we loved these. My kids even ate the beets and greens. I used spray olive oil on the beets. I had a hard time peeling them after they were cooked, they were so hot and hard to handle. For the greens I didnt use the oil. I had made bacon this morn. dumped out the grease but saved the pan with all the stuck bits, I sauteed the onion in it then added the greens. Fabulous.

Fabulous Zucchini Grinders

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
These were soooo good. I used francesco rinaldi sweet and tasty tomato sauce. I sauteed zuchinni w/ olive oil spray, clove of garlic and about 1/2 an onion. I think my zukes were a bit big or my rolls were too small as I had extra filling. I only used 1/4c mozz. in each roll. I also sprinkled about 2tbs parm into the zuch and sauce mixture. I'd make again for myself, these kids ate it but my son stated not to count his revies because he doesnt like zuchinni, but I didnt have to nag him to eat it.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
This isnt my regular recipe but I only had 3 eggs so I decide to try this one. There could've been a bit more filling it was thin in spots(so obviously my oven isnt level) anyway they were great. I took them to a party and the whole batch was eaten. I topped each one with a tiny flower and leaf made out of royal icing.

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

I am just reviewing the filling-The cream cheese, vanilla pudding mix and coolwhip mixture. I baked little pie crusts in mini muffin tins, then piped this cream into them using a big pastry bag and the large cupcake tip. Just before serving I topped them w/frozen wild blueberries. They were so good. My son raved about them.

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
This was good. It didnt get real brown or crispy like I thought it would from the reviews. I did use 1/4c butter. I also baked in a 9x13 pyrex dish, had 3 huge boneless breasts and cut them into strips. Baked for 18min. and they were almost overdone.
