Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
I made this for Thanksgiving as I didn't have the condensed soups to make the "typical" green bean casserole. I must say I am glad I tried this recipe. It was delicious and everyone loved it over the original recipe. This will now be our green bean casserole for Thanksgiving.

Easy Alfredo Sauce I

This is by far my favorite way to make alfredo sauce. This recipe is not as "heavy" as others and is delectable. An absolute No Fail favorite. Thank you!

Creamy Banana Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
This was my first time making banana pudding and I don't think I want to try another recipe. I followed directions exactly and it got amazing raves from the moment it touched their lips! This is what I will be taking to office parties from now on.

Turkey a la King

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
The presentation in the biscuits got me to try this recipe (so adorable). I didn't follow exact due to ingredients on hand, but it was still a great way to use left over turkey. Like a pot pie in a biscuit. I used milk in place of heavy cream and 3 tablespoons of flour. That thickened it nicely. Oh, and I added mixed frozen veggies (green beans, carrots, peas, corn). It was a complete easy meal. Thank you!

Lemon Pepper Cod

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
I rubbed the fish with EVOO and then coated with lemon pepper seasoning. Was not bland at all this way. Oh, and I baked it - 400 for 10 mins. Kids loved it (of course they though it was chicken)!

Ham and Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
If you don't have time to soak the beans overnight (or forget), you can bring the beans and water to a rapid boil then cover and let rest for about an hour. It helps to add a little bit of EVOO or bacon grease (:?) and a pinch of sugar. Just as good as soaking overnight. I also use Hot Sauce (Texas Pete) in place of the cayenne. Oh, and you don't need the brown sugar...at least not all of it.

School Lunchroom Cafeteria Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
These were not what I was expecting taste wise. They were very bland. I would have given only 3 stars, but I scaled down the recipe and did not make as posted. The rolls had a nice fluffiness and texture was beautiful, but taste was just blah.

Swiss Chard with Garbanzo Beans and Fresh Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
This was really good. I have never had swiss chard before, but grew some in my garden for health benefits. My only suggestion is to be careful if you add any pepper like I did. The chard is "peppery" and with the addition of pepper it was almost overpowering. And I did not have garbanzo beans, so substituted white northern beans. Excellent with Cornbread!

Creamed Peas and New Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
I had fresh peas from the garden and remembered my grandmother making this recipe, although I think she used heavy cream. I like that it is made with milk and not heavy cream. I did not think it was bland at all...I did a lot of pepper though. Thanks for a great recipe and memory!

Pizza On The Grill I

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
It is REALLY hard to order pizza delivery now knowing that we can make such better pizzas at home. After trying this I am convinced there is no other way a pizza should be cooked at home. Sooo good. I have even bought the already made pizza crusts and used the grill for a birthday party. Kids loved being able to add their toppings and watch it bake. Thank you!

French Onion Soup Gratinee

This is the closest recipe I have found for that awesome French Onion Soup. Maybe the wine I am using is not complimenting the soup like it should, but this was really good and my favorite thus far.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: May 4, 2011
Very good. I've always made sour milk with 1 tblsp vinegar to 1 cup milk, so did not use 2 as recipe called for. Took advice of other review to not stir batter again, don't know if that made a difference since I've only made one time, but the pancakes were yummmmy!

Grilled Portobello Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2011
I didn't care for this, but I am NOT a mushroom fan. I gave 4 stars because my husband and guests really liked them. I guess the soft texture threw me (I really wanted it to taste like a steak). I even had my husband throw them back on the grill to try and "firm" them up. The marinade was delicious and I would like to try on a real steak. Thank you.

Fried Green Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
These were OK. The coating was light on the beans. I like a nice crunchy coating, so I dipped the beans in the buttermilk and flour and then back into the buttermilk and flour. This gave it a nice crunchy coating. I also added breadcrumbs to the flour mixture and just used seasoned salt.

Simple Country Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
These were a lot more tender than I expected and very flavorful. I boiled them on the stove for almost 2 hours and then transferred them to the oven (220) for about an hour since it was raining outside. Don't think you could go wrong with these if using your favorite BBQ sauce. Thanks.
