My mother was the best cook that anyone who ever knew her ever knew...does that make sense? My grandma, as well, though she felt the same about my mom. I always thought cooking skill was genetic until my grandma told me I'd never know how to cook a thing since I'm always running out the door when something is going on in the kitchen. And then I went to culinary school and really paid for not paying attention sooner! I believe that food is meant to be shared and is a means of nurturing and communication.
My favorite things to cook
Stews, bolognese (drizzled with white truffle oil at service), and risotto.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Goofy, simple things, like "Christmas Eve Salad" which, to hear the ingredients most would run the other way (on website). Oyster stew on Christmas Eve, and Eggs Benedict on Christmas Day, which eventually turned into French Toast and sausage (not a fan) since we were too tipsy on bloody mary's and champagne to appreciate the urgent nature of hollandaise. She gave up, bless her heart. She always liked Thanksgiving better anyway.
My cooking triumphs
Owning my own business where I singlehandedly served more people daily than I could have ever thought possible. Culinary Arts graduate. One to look forward to would be Granny's fruit cake.
My cooking tragedies
Rice, always rice...unless it's Basmati.
