About this Cook
I've been happily married to my husband Jeff, since '96. I'm a stay at home mom to two kids, Gabrielle ('98) and Alec ('04). They like to help me cook in the kitchen when I'm making cookies or muffins :-). My daughter tells me she is an expert egg cracker. ;-) My son always makes sure everything is mixed, very, very, very well! (Which isn't always good for the muffins!)
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook desserts, muffins, quick (yeast free) breads and cookies. I do like cooking dinner every night, just because I tend to like my cooking best. ;-)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year we make and decorate Christmas cookies. We do other baking together throughout the year, but that is my favorite.
My cooking triumphs
Before my husband and I got married we were both living at home and neither one of us could cook. Our moms did that. ;-) Once we were married, I agreed to learn how to cook, if he would clean the kitchen. It was a deal! Went from only knowing how to make Hamburger Helper, after calling my mom, to knowing how to cook *almost* anything! Haven't had to clean the kitchen after dinner for over 10 years now, hehe!
My cooking tragedies
Anything with yeast or phyllo dough is guaranteed to be a tragedy. If I could master those, I would be an expert cook!

Carrot Bread II
I've made this several times, and my family and I really like this bread! My five year old son is excited when I make this. Followed the tip about making the carrot baby food, and it works great every time.

Valentine's Pie
This is super simple to make. I had a 9 serving graham crust, so I wanted more filling. I used two packages of cream cheese, instead of one, which made it more like cheesecake- except fluffier. Instead of cool whip, I made (a half batch) of the homemade the whipped cream recipe from this website. Used pineapple pie filling, instead of cherry, since that is what is preferred by my family. So, this was a great base recipe, and I'm sure it's great as is, without changing it.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
This is so good, it's my new chocolate chip cookie recipe! Thanks! Followed the recipe exactly, except only had salted butter in the house, so that's what I used. Didn't have any issues with it. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Perfect! One note- They looked "raw" at the end of the cooking time, so I left them on the cookie sheet for about 5 minutes, before moving them to the cooling rack. They are kinda crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.
