About this Cook
I enjoy cooking and try my best to make healthy low fat meals. I am a nurse and try to keep my weight in check.
My favorite things to cook
Love to make soups and anything with lots of veggies in it. I often add more veggies than the recipe says. I think you also need a treat and so I try to do baking as well. Love the health nut muffins
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't have a lot of traditional dishes I make I am always trying something new. Guess thats my tradition.
My cooking triumphs
I make pastry really well so my pie is very good.
My cooking tragedies
I cant really think of any tragedies. I have made lots of things I would not make again but that isnt exactly a tragedy.

White Bean Dip
This was okay, tasted sort of like hummus. It was good but not spectacular.

Rocky Road Caramel Apples
I had my son make these with explicit instructions to pop the apples in boiling water to remove wax as pr previous reviews. Well, he forgot this step and they were an absolute disaster with the caramel in a giant puddle underneath the apples. So I scrubbed off the caramel and started again. I dipped the apples in boiling water for ten seconds and dried them well. Then I placed them in the freezer so they were chilled. I remade the caramel using the chewy caramel recipe from this site [easier than all that unwrapping]. I made sure the temperature was around 200 when I dipped the apples. They could not have been more perfect and everyone loved them. Moral of the story, read the reviews before you make a new recipe!!!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie
This was an excellent pie. The sugar to apples ratio is perfect. Like other reviewers I added a tsp of cinnamon. I took this pie to a dinner party and it was a big hit.
