About this Cook
I am married 25+ years and enjoy cooking for my family. My daughter is away at school, so I make a lot of double recipes, then freeze in individual portions for her to experience a "taste of home."
My favorite things to cook
I like to experiment with foreign dishes, and also enjoy the "tried and true" standards like meatloaf, pot roast, chicken pot pie, etc.
My cooking triumphs
Any holiday dinner counts as a "triumph." I always make everyone's favorites and somehow manage to have it all ready at the same time.
My cooking tragedies
Despite my successes over the years, it's the simple things that get me: I always burn grilled cheese! (Once it was so bad, I threw the smoking pan, sandwich included, out the front door into the snow. The next morning the sandwich was gone, but I had to throw the pan away because you could still see the image of the bread branded into the Teflon!)

Never Fail Pie Crust II
This was my first attempt at pie crust, which I have always considered a daunting task, reserved for "professionals." I am happy to report this was simple, perfect, and I will never buy another packaged crust when this is readily available in a snap! I used this to make apple dumplings-WOW! Thank you very much.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
I decided to make mine into bars. I used a 15" X 10" baking pan with sides and it took 35 min. at 350 degrees. I also used 1/2 cup applesauce in place of half the oil, and I used the packet that comes with a ham (Ham glaze-just sugar, dried honey and spices) in place of some of the sugar. I usually throw that packet away, so I was glad to find another use for it! I added 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon in addition to the spices that were in the packet. Moist and delicious.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
These are the best truly chewy chocolate chip cookies. I used real butter, parchment paper (no grease) and they came out as described. Thank you!
