Loving our second year of allotment vegetable gardening - perhaps this year will be the year to persuade the children it IS fun! I detest fast food and cook bread and dinners every day. Yum yum!
My favorite things to cook
I love experimenting with Indian food and also learning new Chinese dishes from my MIL. Cakes and pies are favourites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditional roast dinners and cake baking are the items handed down from my mother. My Yorkshire puddings are now better than hers, but for sheer precision planning, she wins hands down!
I love to cook for big family get-togethers. With a large family, every get-together is big.
My cooking triumphs
A triple layer orange cake, filled with cream and sliced strawberries, for my husband's birthday.
Chicken byriani - a real mish-mash, but absolutely delicious.
My cooking tragedies
Where to start? Around once a fortnight my son asks, "is this an experiment"? Differing tastes perhaps, rather than outright disasters.
I did once make a chicken casserole for six work colleagues, that cooked for four hours in quite a hot oven, but still bled spectacularly when cut. We packed up, packed out and went to a local restaurant! Cooker temperature was fine, but my large Majorcan terracotta cooking dish was relegated to a fruit bowl.
