About this Cook
I love to cook and often I am asked to help others learn to cook. Even simple meals are fun for me. I hope one day to have my own food service establishment.
My favorite things to cook
Anything southern, vegetarian and seafood cooking also interest me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother taught me to cook at a very young age and I made my first entire meal one day when my parents were working outside and I was only nine years old.
My cooking triumphs
Teaching my sons to cook has been my greatest triumph. They are both comfortable in the kitchen and love to experiment in the kitchen. My youngest is a chef and attributes his success to having been taught to cook at a young age.
My cooking tragedies
As I said before I learned to cook at a young age. My biggest problem was remembering when you use self-rising flour you don't use baking powder or salt and one day I asked my mom while she was more than half asleep and she told me that I should use the powder and salt...I made a cake that the dog wouldn't even eat. I have never forgotten again not to use the powder and salt.

German Coleslaw
Oh my gosh! This is so good. Served with Asian Salmon and garlic mashed potatoes. I was only serving two so halved the recipe and it was still terrific!

Very good and no waste! My son who is a chef loved this and is planning to add it to his menus.

Red Pepper-Salmon Pasta
Great recipe. I didn't have red peppers to roast so I used yellow. I am sure that didn't affect the taste and the yellow and green were very pretty together. Will definately make again and even without salmon the sauce is going to be great on pasta. Late note! I have used this sauce on shrimp that were sauteed prior to adding to the sauce and also on chicken cubes that were sauteed either is terrific. I am not rating the recipe based on changes that deviate from the original because it makes me angry to see that people say I love this recipe but I changed this or that. If they changed it then they didn't use the recipe.
