I was born in Belgium (March 29, 1980) and grew up in France, then came back to Belgium. When I finished high school, I had the opportunity to spend one year in an American college (in Tifton, Ga). Back in my country, I had to cook for myself... but I'm a picky eater with a sweet tooth, so I began looking for more sophisticated recipes. Looking for a particular recipe, I found this site that is, in my opinion, the best on the net. Having a sweet palate, I especially love to bake or cook desserts: pies, cookies, cakes, ice-creams, custards, puddings, ... are my specialities. I also love to create or look for recipes containing my favourites ingredients, which are often unknown, or at least less used, here in Belgium (peanut butter, buttermilk, molasses, cream cheese, ...). When it comes to main dishes, I love Mexican and traditionnal American cuisine (especially Southern). I really do enjoy showing my fellow Europeans that American food doesn't sum up to McDonald's, as most of them seem to think. I don't really have family traditions, but one thing I'm sure of is that any time friends come at home (which is every single day), they always rush to the cupboard where my home-baked cookies are stored. It sometimes annoys me, for it means I might not have one left for myself, but it is undeniably rewarding. I found this site looking for a peanut butter pie recipe. Everybody loved it at home, which I considered a triumph for it seemed to be tough to satisfy them with PB. The cookies I bake are also considered by friends and relatives as spectacular (!). I and my sister remember well of a certain molasses pie I baked for holiday. I like molasses (but she doesn't!), but there might have been a typo in this recipe, for it was unedible. On further consideration, the pork roast I baked ending up being a veal roast was also a flop.
