MORE
Cooking is one of my favorite past times (and of course, eating what I cook;) I live in Southern Michigan and have been married since 9/1997. No kids yet, husbands Grandmother lives with us and that's enough for now. Thank you members, for all your great contributions to this site!
My favorite things to cook
Main courses, bread maker breads, Mexican, Italian, Southern Style.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Canning tomato juice every year with my Mom and Grandma, at the time it seemed like a horrible chore, but what great things they have taught me! Also learning to make beans and cornbread and chocolate pies from my Grandmother.
My cooking triumphs
Mastering the dishes that my husband said he would never like, I have managed to get to him to try and enjoy everything besides bean soup and one of these days I'm going to manage to get him to try that, too! ;)
My cooking tragedies
Cooked a round steak for the first time in the crock pot after I was first married, and took the advice of the girls at work to leave it on HIGH for ten hours with no liquids. It had the consistency of rocks..and dh and his best friend still ate it to make me feel better, bless them!
My inability to master dough of any kind, even if I start it in the bread machine. I really have issues with trying to manipulate pizza dough, biscuits, etc.
Making hamburgers in a skillet for the first time and burning them into hockey pucks ( I was about 10 years old ) The dog wouldn't even eat them!
