Fennel Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
Very tasty and easy soup! I used olive oil and added some spices but even without these changes I think it would've been good. The taste of fennel is very mild.

My boyfriend who hates cooked broccoli finished eating these before he finished his steak!! They are really good and if you make extra and have leftovers they are even great the next day.

Candy Apple Jelly

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
This recipe was a hit! I couldn't find red-hots and I'm not even exactly sure what they are but I did try to find cinnamon hearts (cinammon flavoured hard candy). Unfortunately they only sell them aound valentines day and I couldn't wait. Instead I used cinnamon flavoured jelly beans. The only difference was the undissolved candy sunk to thebottom instead of floating making it harder to remove. It turned out great and has great flavour. the whole recipe was quick and easy to make.

Red and Green Christmas Jalapeno Jelly

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
This recipe was really pretty and delightful to give as a gift. The first batch I made was not hot at all so I would recommend putting in all the jalepeno seeds the first time and scaling down from there unless yo want not-hot pepper jelly. I tried the turning trick but it was only partly successful as the jelly set up really fast. The most time consuming aspect of this recipe is preparing the peppers, which I had to do by hand (no food processer for me!). I will definately be making this again.

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
these were very good. I had to make a few changes because I didn't have some ingredients. I added green onion instead of bacon and cornflake crumbs instead of bread crumbs. I made extra and froze them so hopefully they'll turn out great also!

Dave's Mocha Chicken

This recipe was great and even better then next day. I didn't have sherry so I used white wine and I also didn't have brewed coffe so I mixed up some strong instant coffee. It was really good even with these changes.

Sweet and Sour Beetroot

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
I needed a way to use up some leftover beets and these were delicious!! The only problem I had was that I used half white vinegar and half red wine vinegar and they were a little more sour than sweet! I will definatley make them again with malt vinegar.

Salmon Patties I

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
I was also craving salmon patties and these were great! I added green onion instead of onion and hot sauce for some bite, but I think they would've been good with out the changes. I will definately be making these again. Thanks for the recipe!!

Cinnamon-Curry Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
Well I had to make a few changes because of the ingredients I had on hand. I added yellow mustard (for Dijon), homemade relish and olive oil (for mayo). but it is the cinnamon and curry that are the stars of this dish. It's a wonderfully, tasty quick lunch. Thanks for the recipe!!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
Very good soup. It was easy to make while I did laundry because although it takes an hour to make at least half of that is simmering time. I didn't serve it with cream because I didn't have any but I will definately make it again. The only change I made was to double the curry powder added. Yummy!!

BBQ Steak

Yummmm! This was so good. I didn't have any dijon mustard on hand so I added French's yellow mustard, german grain mustard and a little mustard powder. I only marinated it for a half hour but it was really tasty. Next time I'll marinate it longer and enjoy the results!!

Honey Syrup

This syrup went wonderfully with Honey Cake I. I did substitute some of the honey for marmalade because it was less expensive but it still had a great flavor and consistancy.

Honey Cake I

Yummy cake. I made it 2 days before the event I was bringing it to and by then it was a little dry even thought it had been wrapped up. I rewarmed it and served it with Honey Syrup (by Denise). It was a hit.

Hot German Potato Salad III

This was really good. I did have leftovers so I made them into patties and pan fried them. The salad does have a vinegar taste but I like that flavor and so did the people I served it to.

Asian Pilaf Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2005
Everyone loved this. I had many requests for the recipe. I didn't even bother looking for the Near Asia Pilaf mix because I was pretty sure I've never seen it. Instead I cooked minute rice in a combination of beef broth, cayanne pepper, curry powder, vinegar and soy sauce. It turned out great!

YUMMY!! This recipe was quick and easy to prepare. It was a real hit with my mom which is saying a lot!! I used green onions in the potatos because I like the flavour and added Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture for a little added kick. I will definately make this again!

Gnocchi Bake

My homade gnocchi didn't work so I made this with rigatoni, slices of spicey Italian sausage and my favorite spaghetti sauce. It was a hit! I'm going to try again with store bought gnocchi!

Lamingtons

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2005
These were really good and fairly easy to make since I used store bought pound cake because I didn't have time to make a cake. I served them at an Australian International dinner and one of the guests was from Australia. His only critique was the size. I made the pieces bite-size but in Australia, Lamingtona are about 20 cm square (4 inches)!
