I'm a working mom who collects cookbooks, tries new recipes, and even make up my own recipes. I'm married with a teenager, a near teenager, and a shift working husband. We try to spend as much time together through camping, hunting, jeeping, cooking, and other activities.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are anything we hunt, homemade Mexican food (I grow my own peppers), steaks, good Texas BBQ, and good southern cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking tradition is making my own Mexican food like my granny. My grandmother grew up with a young Hispanic girl who taught her to make traditional Mexican food. My granny passed that knowledge on to me along with other southern dishes.
My cooking triumphs
I created a green bean casserole that took the best of my grandmother's recipe and the traditional campbells recipe. People who do not like green beans or green bean casserole devoured the casserole and another had to be made at a Thanksgiving dinner.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list but they all have made me a better cook.
