About this Cook
Well, I grew up in a small cow town, my mom was a work-at-home mother, so she had plenty of time to cook. I always loved watching her, and even more helping her. I starting baking at about 12 years old, the real simple things, and have loved it since. I didn't really start anything range-top till I was 18 and moved out of my mother's house, and had to cook for myself.
My favorite things to cook
I still love baking, and my favorite genre is desserts; my family can always count on me bringing a dessert to the family parties.
My cooking tragedies
I still can't quite get my mother's bread down. Every time I try it, something goes wrong, and it comes out tasting fine but having a weird texture or shape.

Hearty Jambalaya
This was an exceptional meal! I followed the recipe on everything *except*: after adding all but the shrimp, I thought it looked a little too pasty, especially to go over rice, so I added two cups of chicken broth, making it just a bit more stew-like. Did I compromise the original recipe and thus insult the cajun cuisine? Maybe. Did it still taste amazing? Yeah! I also was a little shocked at how mild this was, for a Louisiana dish. Growing up in Utah, my family's idea of spice is a carrot. But this barely had enough kick to it to merit any yelps at the table, let along clear the sinuses! Next time I will make it for myself and turn up the heat a bit more. Thank you, thank you for a fantastic dinner!

Cinnamon-Swirl Raisin Bread
A masterpiece! Very simple to make, and came out of the oven looking beautiful, and smelling great; and the taste was magnificent! I saved about 1 Tbsp of the sugar-cinnamon mixture and sprinkled it on the top before baking.
