About this Cook
My favorite thing to do is bake. When I come home from a long day at work, I'd rather bake something than relax. When I am relaxing, I have my laptop and am surfing the net (usually allrecipes.com) for new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! When someone requests a baked item, I can't say no. Unfortunately, my kids think they need a sweet dessert every night after dinner. I'm trying to find things that are sweet yet healthier than the usual cookies, brownies, and cakes.
My cooking triumphs
There are a few things that get requested often from my husband's and my coworkers. I'm so happy that I make something that's memorable and people actually want!
My cooking tragedies
I've had many! One of my first times making bread, my brother-in-law came over. I looked for the bread, and I found it on the floor being used as a doorstop! It was hard as a rock. Another time, I made something called Frosted Bars, which were no bake cereal bars. My mother-in-law had typed the recipe for me. On the same page, she had typed a recipe for frosting. I figured that went on the cereal bars. Well, they had nothing to do with each other. My husband took one bite and exclaimed that something was seriously wrong. We called my mother-in-law, and got a good laugh!

Sugar Cookie Glaze
I hate to rate a recipe low in case it's something I did wrong. I followed the recipe to a T, and it did not come out well. I dipped the cookies in, and the glaze soaked in. I waited about an hour until they were hard again, and I dipped again. I colored the glaze orange, and the glaze is completely transparent, not like the pictures I've seen. It tastes good, but I'm too embarrassed to take them to work like I'd planned.
