I'm 24 years old and a stay at home mom to an outgoing 5 year old little girl. My husband is a CH-47 Chinook helicopter engineer and we just returned to the United States after living in the Netherlands for a few years. I love music, word games, spades, the beach, laughing and trying out new recipes.
While living here in Holland, I've discovered that there are a lot of ingredients that are called for in various recipes, that just aren't offered here. I am definitely challenged each time I set out to try a new recipe. Sometimes I have to go with a substitution; sometimes I have to find a recipe for an ingredient that's called for, and other times I have to simply have my family import certain products for me so that I can have them on hand. All in all, I'm always up for trying new things!
My favorite things to cook
I have no favorites; I'm always up for trying new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As with many people, the age-old "licking the batter from the spoon" rite of passage has now been passed to my daughter.
My cooking triumphs
Oh I've had many!
Living overseas and not having your "normal" choice of items that you are so accustomed to in your own country, proves to be a triumph each time a new dish is prepared.
My cooking tragedies
Thankfully, I've not had any yet!
