I am a working single mom. I love to have occasions to cook, although during the week, I am too tired to cook dinner, so we just eat cereal sometimes. I love to look through recipe books and this website. I rarely go on any other sites, because the reviews make all the difference for me. I love to get compliments from my kids and friends for a delicious dish I have made.
My favorite things to cook
Pizza, banana bread, apple pie, hummus, bread in the bread machine, "Country cooking", bisquits, beans and rice, stews, low-fat beef dishes. I could go on and on.
Would like to learn how to make indian food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My kids look forward to eating my thanksgiving dinner, which is basically my version of my mother's. They have special requests for specific dishes at holidays and birthdays. My younger daughter likes apple pie and my older one likes Pretzel salad.
My cooking triumphs
Homemade pizza, FLUFFY mashed potatoes, perfect chicken and dumplings.
My cooking tragedies
I tend to burn things, because I try to do too many things at once or get impatient. So there have been many cookies that have ended up in the trash and black grilled cheese, not to mention the burned meat from the grill. I also tend to over-salt.
One time I couldn't get spaghetti sauce to taste right, so I kept adding stuff to it until it ended up just tasting horrible, but I didn't want to admit it, so I served it to my family, and was forcing myself to eat it so they would. After they tasted it, I was forced to throw it out and we ate cereal for dinner.
