About this Cook
I am 35 years old...Im a Realtor and Property Manager; have lived in Mexico City, Cancun and Cuernavaca, love to cook and entertain friends and family who have been extremely patient with my cooking, even the times where recipes came out just awful.
My favorite things to cook
Anything sweet: cakes, desserts, local, extravagant, maybe too sweet for some but this is what I like. SWEET STUFF!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have any favorable excuse to gather and cook pretty much whatever we want...but there are a couple occassions throughout the year: when my uncle Carlos cooks Paella (a Spanish wholemeal Rice) cos he uses the best ingredients and make it slow-cooking style and Mothers Day when I make pastry dishes, some sort of big empanada stuffed with 5 or 6 different stuffings, apple salad and chocolate cake mmmmm, everyone just raves on it!!! My grandma use to own a Catering Business and my other grandma enjoyed cooking too, we all have something to add to the table, my brother is very good with sauces and the grill, my mother is a salad expert, my father used to be in charge of the meat...so, we all enjoyed food and celebrate with it all the time.
My cooking triumphs
I made for my moms birthday a shrimp lasagna that took forever in the oven, but everyone just loved it. My apple salad at a high-school reunion its still a hit and my Pastel Azteca (Aztecs Cake) is truly appreciated and always welcomed.
My cooking tragedies
This space is just too small to talk about it...but to name a few one New Years dinner I was in charge of the cake (what else) and baked a black forrest cake that just sank in front of everyone EVEEEERRYYYYYONNEEEEE as I was about to cut it...now I think of it as something funny but at the time my entire family was like: what is wrong with her...anyway, they tried it and the flavor was amazing, even the texture but the presentation was a side show, with a little noise and a burping that will never be forgotten (the burping and the little noise coming out of the cake of course!!!)
