Amish Friendship Bread I
About this Cook
I've been cooking a very long time but I don't consider myself an expert because I'm just not very good. I never enjoyed cooking like many people do. I was kind of forced in to it by default. The wife being expected to do the cooking and all. I hear all the time that men are better cooks but I simply don't buy it. The only men that cook are the ones that love it so there is no comparison. Women definitely rule in this department, just not me.
My favorite things to cook
is not cooked at all. My favorite is Spinach, Strawberry and green olive salad.
My cooking triumphs
When I got my husband to cook a meal once.
My cooking tragedies
So many it's hard to determine which is the worst. Here's just one of them: I had been going through chemo and anyone going through chemo understands chemo brain. Wanting to help my family out I decided to cook a chicken and rice dish. After I finished cooking the rice I served the dish to my family. They were sooo hungry. After the first bite we realized the rice wasn't cooked. It just about broke my tooth. I thought I grabbed the minute rice but I didn't. I continued trying to finish cooking the rice. My family was saying "you don't have to" but I insisted. "Please mom, really, you don't have to". After serving it to them uncooked for the third time my family finally said "give it up mom, we'll eat sandwiches". My chemo brain became very evident to me from that point on.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter
The flavor of the bread is kind of bland as is. Adding bananas, carrots or zuchini and walnuts would greatly improve it. It's fun starting this recipe and then passing it along to friends.

Chicken Pot Pie I
I just did not like this recipe. It would have been alright if I had used fresh vegetables. The problem was the canned veges, they made it taste awful. My husband thought it was ok but I couldn't eat mine. I doubt I'll ever make it again.

Thousand Island Dressing II
This is actually a very good recipe for a quick and simple dressing. I made this recipe for my husband since he's the thousand island dressing lover. I prefer ranch myself. He thought is was way too sweet but otherwise did taste like thousand island dressing. I suggest adding small amounts of sweet pickle relish at a time (which is what I should have done, my fault) to get your desired taste.
