My parents are from OH & PA, and I love Amish cooking. I was born and raised in New Mexico, and I miss the unique cuisine. I love spicy Green Chili grown in Hatch, NM. I worked on cruise ships and love the flavors of the Caribbean. I lived in Texas and love to BBQ! Now I'm learning how Northern Midwesterners cook. Fun! I am very open-minded when it comes to eating new foods (as long as it doesn't crawl off my plate). I LOVE to try new recipes, and I'm always looking for unusual recipes and unusual ingredients.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook for company and family when they come to visit. My children are young so most of my current cooking is simple and kid friendly. My favorite things to cook are desserts, but my waist line won't allow me to overindulge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking cookies w/ my mom and my kids, making my grandmother's cinnamon rolls for Easter, making a Swedish tea ring for Christmas. I have tons of recipes from my grandmothers, Aunts and mother, and I cherish those.
My cooking triumphs
My triumphs occur every time I find a new "family favorite" recipe. These are the recipes that are a big hit with my husband on kids. These recipes bring cheers instead of jeers. I don't find these recipes easily.
My cooking tragedies
Far too many to list. I always have at least one meal in the freezer to pull out when I screw up. LOL
